The Tower of Books Challenge
Don Jeter's School-Wide 2019-2020 Reading Challenge
The Challenge
This year we are embarking, yet again, on a school-wide reading challenge! Every person, student or staff, will track their reading journey with the making of a paper Book Tower representing the stack of books that they read this school year. Your child's goal this year is to read as many of the books that they can and record them on their Book Tower. There is no minimum or maximum amount of books to be read in this challenge, therefore every student's tower will look different at the end of the year. We are simply encouraging both staff and students to grow as readers and to symbolize this growth with their personal Book Tower.
Reading Incentives
There's no such thing as THE best tower, only YOUR best tower!
FAQs
- Each grade level has decided which books can count towards your child's tower. Please check with your child's teacher.
If my child reads the 2x2 books or the Bluebonnet books, can they add the title to their tower?
- Yes! Any 2x2 or Bluebonnet book that was completed after your child was given their reading challenge folder can count for a tower spine.
- If your child read any of the 2x2 or Bluebonnet books over the summer, those books do count towards the 2x2 and Bluebonnet lists, but only those books completed after your child was given their reading challenge folder can count for a tower book spine.
Will you be providing a free trip to a book store for the top readers this year?
- We will not be providing a free trip to a book store for the top readers this year. We will be celebrating everyone's reading growth in a special way at the end of the year.
