9 more days till Christmas~
It's been an amazing week from the Pancake breakfast to the 8th grade field trip to see "A Christmas Carol." We are so blessed. The highlight for me was having us all together for the WCS Christmas concert. Wow! The church was packed. Small but mighty prevails!
What follows is my greeting from that night. Perhaps it was hard to hear with all of the excitement.
"I’ve been thinking a lot this Advent season about what it looks like to build the Kingdom of God here on earth. While our community has its challenges, I truly believe we are hard at work reflecting the kingdom of Heaven at WCS. I have the good fortune to see it in many ways. I see older students praying with younger students at mass; we call them buddies; I catch pieces of classroom discussions that focus on understanding others’ perspectives. I can count on staff members to step in for each other when needed. I see successful drives to collect personal care items and non-perishable food for the less fortunate. And I witness the many contributions of amazing volunteers. These are just some examples. Certainly, children singing brings us closer to God as inevitably, I get goosebumps during children’s Christmas concerts and I’m sure some of you get a little teary-eyed. Tonight will be no exception. Enjoy this slice of the Kingdom of God."
