We have outstanding students, teachers and parents at VAES!
You Matter at VAES!
It is amazing how quickly the students have learned the procedures of the new year. They are learning so much already. Oh, it is going to be so fun watching them grow this year!
We want to thank everyone who was able to attend the PTA meeting on Tuesday night. Please click on the link below to get a summary of the topics covered if you were not able to make it.
Please join us for the Brown Bag Lunch with the Principal scheduled on Wednesday, September 9th from 11:45 - 12:45 in the library. This is a good time to connect with other parents, get your questions answered, offer suggestions for improvement and/or get trained on a computer resource we use at school. Please join us on the 9th!
Remember to spark creativity and curiousity with your children, discuss their learning, build problem solving skills, play a game and have fun reading together. Your participation in the learning process from home makes all the difference in your child's success at school. Enjoy the three day weekend with your families.

I have sent out two School Messenger items so far this year. One was advertising Meet the Teacher Night, and I sent one at the end of the 1st day. If you did not receive one, as it just goes to the first parent listed for your child, you can add additional phone numbers and email addresses. Please go to our website at www.vanalstyneisd.org, Parents tab, and then School Messenger. It will give you directions for adding multiple family members to receive these messages from the school.
Anytime you see one of these bars in the newsletter, please click to open the link.
The PTA Membership Drive is underway. Parents can sign-up directly at :
So far, the PTA Fall Membership Drive has enrolled 167 total members. The class who is currently in the lead for the most members is Mrs. Gentzler's class. The grade level in the lead is 2nd grade.
Our PTA provides so many opportunities for our students during the school year. Did you know PTA funds help our students attend field trips by giving $7 per student? Did you know the spring fundraiser provided 10 additional computers for our library? Did you know that PTA provided $50 gift certificates for each teacher to spend at the teacher store? Did you know that PTA provided funds to help stock the new art class? Did you know that PTA purchases the Spirit Stick Awards for your children? Your membership dollars and your support of the fundraising efforts make a huge difference to our students each year. Thank you for supporting our PTA.
