The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Bijou:

MEMORIAL DAY
School will be closed on Monday, May 30th due to Memorial Day. School will resume on Tuesday, May 31st at 8:35 am.
OPEN HOUSE
Please join us Thursday, June 2nd, for Bijou Community School's annual Open House. Please plan on attending between the hours of 5:30 -7:00 pm. Visit your child's classroom and see what they have worked on throughout the year. We will also have the Book Fair going on.
We look forward to seeing all of our parents and students at Open House.

PARABAJITOS SUMMER PROGRAM AT THE FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER
The Family Resource Center (FRC) is in planning stages for the 2022 Summer Parabajitos program. They are planning on beginning the program on Tuesday, July 5th and ending on Thursday, August 11th. The program will begin at 9:00 am and end at 2:00 pm every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. They anticipate a $70 cost per participant. VOLUNTEERS
We are excited to invite volunteers back into our classrooms beginning March 28, 2022. This assumes that our school COVID numbers remain at an acceptable level. All volunteers must complete the following volunteer registration tasks prior to starting:

Please note that this entire packet must be completed and cleared prior to any volunteering (turn in to your school secretary at least a week before your first volunteer day).
You must arrange a designated time for volunteering with your child’s teacher.
LOST AND FOUND
Every Monday, we will be taking the lost and found items and placing them at the front of the school. Please stop by and check for your student’s belongings. We have many jackets, sweaters, water bottles and lunch boxes. Anything not claimed will be donated at the end of the month.

Lake Tahoe Outdoor Exploration and Summer- Lake Tahoe's first ever Coding/STEM & Outdoor Exploration Camp! Taught by School day Teachers with a curriculum designed by Stanford University, our program provides students with an appreciation of nature while learning invaluable skills of the future. Projects include coding websites that catalog plants/insects found nearby, coding a video game about the historical "tahoe tessie", and Lake Robots!
US Youth Volleyball Sign Ups- U.S. Youth Volleyball is offering our summer program in Lake Tahoe this June, and we are looking for kids 7 – 15 years old who want to work on and learn their basics and fundamentals of volleyball in a fun, safe, and noncompetitive environment. We are an outdoor grass league and are for beginner and intermediate players.

Missoula Children’s Theater- Tahoe Arts Project will once again be presenting Missoula Children’s Theater this summer. July 11-15th at Tahoe Valley Elementary. There are over 60 roles available. Grades K-12 are welcomed, you must have completed Kindergarten and be 5 years old. The cost is $50 and scholarships are available through Tahoe Arts Project. We look forward to seeing you perform. STEP IT UP-Walking Challenge- Join us from May1st-May 29th, as we STEP IT UP in a 4-week walking challenge!
K-12 Math Tutoring at LTCC is back! Drop in on Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 3 - 5pm in the reading mezzanine inside the main entrance and directly upstairs. Tutoring is free and tutors can assist with any K-12 math level - all students are welcome!

Jr. Giants Baseball Program- The City of South Lake Tahoe Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to be bringing back the Junior Giants Baseball Program this summer. This is a 100% FREE program for boys and girls ages 5 to 12.
Bread and Broth: Starting April 4, Bread & Broth will return to serving Monday Meals, providing a full-course, nutritious hot meal with Second Servings, and “to go” food and food giveaway bags filled with dairy products, fruits, vegetables, breads and more. These dinners will be provided each Monday from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm at St Theresa Catholic Church Grace Hall, 1041 Lyons Avenue.

“ ST. THERESA’S BREAD & BROTH 4 KIDS” WEEKEND FOOD PROGRAM
Bread & Broth’s ‘B&B 4 Kids’ program provides weekend kid-friendly food for qualified children who attend kindergarten through 8th grade in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District. Every Friday during the school year, the ‘B&B 4 Kids’ program provides participating children with 7 meals which includes non-perishable packaged and canned foods, fresh fruit and breads/ pastries.
BIJOU SCHOOL is partnering with the ‘B&B 4 Kids’ program and would like to offer this opportunity to your child during the 2021/2022 school year. This is a free food program. There is no cost to you or to the school.
If you choose to participate, your child will receive a bag filled with food provided by ‘B&B 4 Kids’ every Friday throughout the school year.
If you feel your child will benefit from receiving weekend food during the school year and are interested in participating in the ‘B&B 4 Kids’ program, please click on this Bread and Broth application link or stop by the office to complete, sign and return this form to the BIJOU SCHOOL office.
