Wolves Weekly

STUDENT NEWSLETTER/March 13, 2023

It's Women's Herstory Month!

March is known for Women's History Month and this year's theme is "Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories". What does that mean--who tell our stories? Let's think about how stories are shared: print, radio, blog, vlog, stage, screen, podcasts, etc. Think about those women in your life and how are they sharing their story, our story. You'll find more info to look at later on in the newsletter.

We've got about three more weeks to go before Spring Break and trust me...I know that it isn't easy. Some are losing their patience quickly, there have been several incidents of where unkind words have been used to make others feel small and unworthy, certain looks are given and there is a lot of room for interpretation/assumption, etc. Where did our #BEHUMANKIND go? Wolfpack, we know you know better. Please do your best to be mindful of others and give each other grace. If there are things that are going on and you need someone to talk to, please make sure to come up and see me or any adult in the office and we will do our best to help and support you.

Read on for more information and news.

REMINDER...Selling of non-school related items are NOT ALLOWED.

It has come to our attention that some students are selling candy, soda, chips, cookies, etc. here on campus. Please know that that is not allowed. Any student caught selling such things will have all items confiscated, and there will be consequences that will follow.

Another REMINDER...If the tardies continue, then the sweeps shall stay.

Hey there Wolves! We've seen some effort from many of you to get to class on time each day. Thank you! But, there are those who continue to to disregard the tardy bell and feel that the tardy bell does not apply to them. Please know that it is important for you to be in class on time. Well, what does that look like? It means that you need to be in your seat BEFORE the tardy bells rings. It does not mean that you are walking into your classroom when the bell rings. Can you do it? Yes, you can with just a little bit of hustle. It is possible.

***Warning...Please be aware that your teachers and administration will continue to be relentless in giving minors/majors and detentions (lunch and after school), community service, and even having your parents walk you from class to class. We are continuing to set up parent conferences for many students who have been identified as having extreme difficulty getting to class on time.

It is very important for you to get to class on time, because it is your education. We need you to value your time here at Ramirez and get the most out of your teacher's instruction, and to respect that time.

IT'S HERE!

The No-Go List is now here. Are you on it or not? If you aren't...FANTASTIC! But, if you are... know that it is your responsibility as a Wolf to be Proactive, Accountable, a positive member of the Community, and exercise Kindness. Unfortunately, if you find yourself on the No-Go List, be advised that you will not be able to participate in any extracurricular activities and field trips.

If you find yourself on the No-Go List, that means you have incurred the following infractions:

  1. 2 or more F's
  2. Excessive Tardies: 10+ tardies in periods 2-7
  3. Behavior: 10 minors, 2 majors, and/or any Ed. Code violation

If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Padilla @ michelle.padilla@cnusd.k12.ca.us.

**NEW**

One change we have made to the No Go list since semester 1 is in regard to the petition. Students ARE NOT required to petition off of the list. Instead, new data will be run every two weeks. If students have improved their behavior, they will no longer be on the list. For example, if you are on the list because of grades, you have 2 weeks to improve your grades and if they have improved, you will be automatically removed from the list. We hope this makes it easier to track for students and families.

Not sure if you are on the list? Check with your homeroom teacher.

Here is the list that was published on March 6th.

The next list will be published on 3/20/2023.

Catch Up Saturday School

Do you need extra time to complete work? Do you need to bring up your grade, to hopefully get off the No Go List? Well then, come to Catch Up Saturday School!

Catch-Up Saturday School is from 8-12. If you sign up to attend, you must come for the entire 4 hours. During this time, you can work on missing/incomplete assignments for most of your classes. Often, a teacher will only accept a missing assignment for full credit, after a Saturday Catch-Up is attended. We will have teachers available to help you as needed.

All students must be picked up NO LATER than 12PM.

Here are the dates for the upcoming dates for Catch Up Saturday School.

March

April

  • 15 - Catch Up
  • 29 - Catch Up Saturday

May

  • 13 - Catch Up Saturday
  • 20 - Catch Up Saturday

REMINDER...School Threats

If you're on social media, you know that there has been an increase in threats being made against school communities across the country. Please know that CNUSD and ARIS take any direct threat (real or fake) against the school or students very seriously.

***If you see or hear something, make sure to SAY SOMETHING to an adult.

Threats, real or fake, carry serious consequences.
