Alpha Gruis is the brightest star in the Grus constellation. It is located in the Main Sequence of the Hertzsprung and Russell Diagram.

It is said in 1827, James Dunlop a Scottish Astronomer discovered the Grus constellation. This is where continual research on the constellation took place and therefore Alpha Gruis was discovered.
