A Message from Mr. Pollock
Hello HEC Crocodile Families,
We have made it to the end of another year here at HEC. This was a very unprecedented year filled with a lot of obstacles that we had to overcome. I want to celebrate the resilience, toughness, and mental grit that our students, teachers, faculty, and community has shown throughout this year. Everyone was flexible and understanding with all the changes we had to put into place and I greatly appreciate that. As a school, our mantra this year was #WeGotThis but we know that we couldn’t have done it without our village. I want to thank each and every one of you for helping make this year a success. We were still able to see students grow and learn each day and we continued to build long lasting relationships. I am grateful and thankful that I get to serve as principal of this amazing school! We always say that Great Happens Here but we know it couldn’t happen without everyone pulling together. I wish all of you a safe, happy, and restful summer break. Take care of yourselves and we will look forward to seeing you in the fall.
Preschool was so last year..kindergarten here we come! 🤗Congratulations to these preschool graduates!

HEC Device End of Year Information
Dear Parents and Students,
Please read all of the information in this letter carefully to understand School District Five’s end of year procedures for district devices.
Students in grades K-12 returning to any D5 school for 2021-22 will keep their district issued device over the summer. If the device is damaged during the summer, students should complete the Chromebook Repair Form for their current school.
Graduating Seniors and students moving out of District 5 must turn in device, case, and charger according to the collection schedule listed in this letter or a bill will be sent for the full replacement price.
Per District Mobile Device Agreement, the district will cover one (1) accidental damage incident during the 2020-2021 school year (August 1, 2020 - July 31, 2021). In order to be considered for 2020-2021 coverage, incidents should be reported via the school’s Chromebook Repair Form by July 31, 2021. Any accidental damage reported after this date will be classified as part of the 2021-2022 school term.
If the device currently has any issues or damages, please do not wait until the end of the year or collection time to notify the school’s help desk. During collection, the device will be evaluated for damages and the student will be billed accordingly.
Possible charges:
Device - up to $300
Case - up to $35
Charger - up to $40
Damaged devices will be reviewed by the Technology Services Department. Parent will be notified if charges are necessary.
Costs are assessed based on replacement price which is dependent on age and model of device and charger.
D5 Technology Services will remotely disable any devices not turned in by the deadline and a bill for the full replacement value will be sent.

Before turning in the device, charger, and case, students need to do the following:

Visit our HEC Summer Reading Site! Here are a few quick pointers:
We will be sending home a reading log with each K-4 student. You do not have to have a reading log to participate. If you have one from any public library, that's great, but they are not required. Any piece of paper with the title of the book you read (or was read to you) and the number of minutes you spent reading signed by an adult in your house will work! For every 300 minutes you read (5 hours) you will receive one entry in the grand prize drawing for your grade level. Every student turning in a reading log with at least 5 hours of reading will receive a fun surprise early next school year! All activities can be completed online at our HEC Summer Reading Site: https://tinyurl.com/23a5fmtt. You can also find the HEC Summer Reading Site on our Destiny Discover page!
Enjoy! Looking forward to awarding prizes in the fall!
