Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year!
Dear Students and Parents:
I am very pleased to be serving in my fifth year as your principal and I would like to officially welcome you back for the 2021-2022 school year at Moorhead Junior High! Our teachers and staff members have been very busy this summer attending numerous professional development sessions and have spent many hours on our campus during the past two months in preparation for a positive opening for the upcoming school year. We have made a strong commitment to quality teaching and learning, and to providing and enhancing the very best learning environment and challenging academic program for all of our students. In addition to our core subject academic program, we are excited about the excellent opportunities for Moorhead students in our elective courses; music and other fine arts programs; and athletic programs. We want our students to get involved in these programs and to join one or more of our clubs and organizations as they develop their leadership and service skills at our school.
Also, we urge our fine parents to consider joining and becoming actively involved in our Parent-Teacher-Organization (PTO), and to complete the information for joining this fine group. We will mail a copy of the PTO membership home to each family. Active parental involvement is a strong goal for our campus and makes a positive difference in our student performance and overall success. Our parents and community members are always welcome on our campus.
We plan to carry on the traditions for nurturing, educating and fostering relationships with our students daily as well as growing them academically no matter what the setting. As always, our number one priority is student and staff safety, especially in our current situation.

Important Upcoming Dates
August 2 - Schedule Pick up and walk building - 9am - 11am and 1pm - 3pm
** All immunizations must be up to date, technology returned, and fees and fines must be paid in order to receive schedule. All students will receive a schedule on the first day of school!
August 9 - Meet the Teacher Night / Schedule Pick up from 5:00pm -7:00pm.
August 11- First Day of School
September 6 - Labor Day (No school)September 22 - Open House 6:00pm - 7:30pm.
The school is open from Monday - Friday from 8am - 4pm.
Change of Pick up after school
This school year, we ask that our parents call the front office when their child is going home a different way than normal. Our front office staff will contact the teacher and provide your child with a pass.
For example, if your child is normally a bus rider but they are being picked up in the car rider line you will need to call the front desk. The main number is: 936-709-2400.
Free and Reduced meal applications! Important - For your TO DO List
Online Free and Reduced lunch applications must be resubmitted every year. If your child receives free or reduced breakfast and lunch you also need to complete the online application or you can request a hard copy a the Moorhead front office.

Cash Online - for school purchases
Conroe ISD is now offering School Cash Online as its preferred method of payment for all school fees, everything from field trips to yearbooks.
School Cash Online allows parents to pay school related fees safely, quickly and easily.
School Cash Online shows all of the school fees available to your student online for purchase. You can then view and choose to purchase these fees online through Master/Visa credit cards and echecks. You can also stay informed of upcoming events and keep track of which school fees require your attention.
Register today – a simple task that takes less than two minutes – by visiting our website at www.conroeisd.net and navigating your way to the School Cash Online page. You will need your child’s student ID number, legal last name and date of birth to register. Should you encounter any difficulties, you can use the parent help desk at 1-866-961-1803 or by visiting schoolcashonline.com/Home/Support.
Please follow these step-by-step instructions, so you will begin to receive email notifications regarding upcoming events involving your child(ren). NOTE: If you require assistance, select the SUPPORT option in the top right hand corner of the screen.
Step 1: Register
a) If you have not registered, please go to the School Cash Online
home page https://conroeisd.schoolcashonline.com/
and select the “Get Started Today” option.
b) Complete each of the three Registration Steps
*For Security Reasons your password, requires 8 characters,
one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter and a number.
Step 2: Confirmation Email
A registration confirmation email will be forwarded to you. Click on the link provided inside the email to confirm your email and School Cash Online account. The confirmation link will open the School Cash Online site prompting you to sign into your account. Use your email address and password just created with your account.
Step 3: Find Student
This step will connect your children to your account.
a) Enter the School Board Name.
b) Enter the School Name.
c) Enter Your Child’s Student Number, Last Name and Birth Date.
d) Select Continue.
e) On the next page confirm that you are related to the child, check in
the Agree box and select Continue.
f) Your child has been added to your account.
Step 4: View Items or Add Another Student
If you have more children, select “Add Another Student” and repeat the steps above. 8 children can be added to one parent account. If you do not wish to add additional children, select “View Items for Students” option. A listing of available items for purchase will be displayed.
Late Bus Registration
Remember to register for Late Bus transportation if you child plans on using this service.
The late buses depart Moorhead at 5:15pm and drop off at designated Satellite locations.
Students involved in extracurricular activities, tutorial programs or after school detention will have the opportunity to utilize our late buses. The following are some important details pertaining to the late bus system. Please read over these new details carefully.
1. Each late bus run will be designated by a color rather than a number.
2. Each late bus will stop at the same designated stops every single day. This new system resembles more of a “Metro” type of system than our previous late bus system.
3. These satellite stops are not intended to be within a short walk to each student’s home, but more of a central place where parents may pick up their children without having to drive all the way to campus.
4. Your student will be given a standardized late bus pass from their teacher in order to ride the late bus.
The teacher will be printing this pass from our View-It system and it will contain all of the information the bus driver will need to drop off your student at the correct location.
5. A student will not be allowed to ride the late bus if they do not have a late bus pass or if it is not signed by a teacher.
6. Also, a student will not be dropped off at any location other than the one that has been assigned to them by View-It which is based on their current address.
6. All satellite stops have been chosen for their safety features (large parking lot for waiting parents), but we do not recommend that students cross any roads or try to walk home from Satellite stops due to dangerous traffic conditions or other dangers that walking home may pose.
7. These satellite spots are subject to change. If for some reason there is a change you will be notified via phone and/or email.
The Student Success Center
The Student Success Center is located in the Moorhead library. This is where our students can get help with homework and projects as well as complete missing tests and assignments.
Hours: 4:05 - 5:05pm
Monday through Thursday every week - Science and History tutorials
Tuesdays and Thursdays - Math tutorials
Mondays and Wednesdays - Language Arts tutorials
Electives assistance is by request
The Student Success Center opens August 30.
enroll in prekindergarten if the child was eligible to enroll in prekindergarten in the previous school year, under TEC, §29.153(b), and has not yet enrolled in kindergarten;
enroll in kindergarten if the child would have enrolled in kindergarten in the previous school year and has not yet enrolled in first grade;
for grades one through three, repeat the grade the student was enrolled in the previous school year;
for grades four through eight, repeat the grade the student was enrolled in during the 2020-2021 school year; and
for courses taken for high school credit, repeat any course in which the student was enrolled during the 2020-2021 school year.

Parent and Student Access Center
Parents and guardians have free access to Parent Access Center via www.conroeisd.net . This portal gives complete access to student grades, attendance, tardies, discipline, STAAR scores, and other information. This tool can also give parents and guardians the opportunity to set thresholds where you will be emailed scores of each assignment. Students also have the same access via Student Access Center.
TAE – Teacher Achieving Excellence is a great opportunity to recognize a teacher that is making a difference in your child’s life. The electronic award can be created and sent through Parent Access. An email will be sent to the teacher as well as campus administrators.
We will continue to follow many of our COVID safety protocols that we implemented last school year that kept our students and staff safe.
One major change, as of 7/29/21, is that it is you and your child's decision to choose to wear or mask or not at school.
We want everyone to feel comfortable with their decision. It's OK either way.
Self-Prescreening: To ensure the health and safety of all students and staff all individuals should conduct self pre-screening for COVID-19 symptoms. Individuals experiencing any of the symptoms listed that are new and/or not normal for them, should stay home and consider seeking medical care and/or COVID-19 testing. Symptoms consistent with COVID-19 include cough, sore throat, loss of taste or small in the last 10 days, diarrhea, feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100.0 °F, or waiting for COVID-19 test results due to symptoms. Individuals who test positive for COVID-19:
Students should notify the school nurse. Conroe ISD is required to report positive cases to Montgomery County Public Health and the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

Both students and employees should isolate for ten days after the date of symptom onset or test date if asymptomatic as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Control (CDC). Individuals must be fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications before returning to school or work. Individuals must be diarrhea free for at least 24 hours without the use of diarrhea-suppressing medications before returning to school or work. District administrators will continue monitoring the situation along with any updates in requirements for exclusion from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Individuals who have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 should isolate to prevent the unintended transmission of the virus to others as recommended by the CDC. Consider seeking medical guidance from your health care provider. Consider testing as recommended by the CDC.

Football Equipment Issue Dates -
Football equipment will be issued for incoming 7th and 8th graders that are planning on participating in football this coming school year on:
Thursday, July 29th - from 1pm - 6pm
Thursday, August 5th - from 4:30pm - 8:00pm
Equipment issue will take place in the athletics area. Please park by the gym entrance and we will assist your child with his/her equipment for the upcoming school year.
You can also turn in completed physical at this time to Coach Spears. All athletes must complete online Rank 1 physical forms and turn in a completed medical history page from the doctor before they can participate in any sport.

Back To School Shopping Reminders
Please keep the following in mind when shopping this summer.
1. Students are NOT allowed to have rips or holes in the jeans above the knee.
2. Leggings are OK, but shirts should hang below the buttocks.
3. Shorts/skirts/pants may have no skin showing more than 4 inches above the knee.
4. Low cut shirts or shirts that show skin at the waist are not permitted.
5. No spaghetti straps or tank tops are allowed. Shoulders must be covered.
6. No hats are allowed at school.

Conroe ISD’s Pre-AP program made a name change beginning with the 2020-2021 school year. In the past, Conroe offered Pre-AP courses in grades 7th – 10th. Pre-AP designated courses are designed to prepare students for Advanced Placement, Dual Credit or for the next Honors course in that subject area.
The College Board, who owns the trademark on the term Pre-AP, launched a new program that redefined the term and created courses that concentrate on grade-level content rather than advanced content. The College Board required districts to apply to be part of the new program and required that their courses serve as the grade-level courses for all students.
Conroe ISD changed the name of courses from Pre-AP to Honors. The content and material being taught has not changed and will focus on preparing students for other advanced courses.
Required Immunizations for Incoming Seventh Graders
If you are a parent or guardian of an incoming seventh grader of 2021-2022, please be aware Texas state law requires all students to have paperwork indicating receipt of the flowing immunizations before they can begin the first day of school:
Moorhead Electronics Policy
Students are allowed to use electronics before school, during lunch, and after school. All devices, including phones, must be powered off and put away the rest of the day during the hours of 8:40am - 4:00pm. Vibrate is not off. Headphones and all other devices should also be put away.
Please do not call or text your child in school except during their lunch period which is fine and largely why students use phones during this time. We ask that you please contact the front desk and we will deliver the message to your child.
Please know that every room in the school has a phone that your child can use.
Students bring electronic devices to school at their own risk. The school is not responsible for the loss or theft of electronic devices, but we will do our best to help your child locate their device should it be lost or stolen.
