Hurricane Katrina took place on August 23, 2005, and ended on August 30, 2005. Katrina was a category 5 storm, meaning it was one of the most violent storms to exist. The storm affected many areas in America including Mississippi, Florida, New Orleans, and Louisiana. Throughout the tragedy about 1,836 people were killed, and many were injured.
Katrina was a devastating time period for many citizens across America. The storm was very vicious, leaving destruction in many areas. Can you imagine watching your mother or family drown, Or survive the storm knowing that you're one of few still alive? Hurricane Katrina didn't only destroy cities, it destroyed many lives and families. These natural disasters aren't preventable, but the tragic memories are. People need to take a stand for the nation and building more liable houses or shelters for people to keep safe in. With more help from the citizens around us, we can DO IT! This country will be 10X as safe and there will be no need for billions of dollars spent on construction work.
