Weekly Updates from Big Walnut High School
April 5, 2019
April is here! We are now on the homestretch! A reminder that our State End-of-Course exams will begin on April 15. Please see more information below. Additionally, AP Testing is on the horizon for any student enrolled in an AP course this year. Seniors will have several events and obligations as the year draws to a close. Please keep checking the weekly newsletter and the daily announcements for more information!
All of us at Big Walnut High School would like to send our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Harrison Street Elementary teacher, Mrs. Julie Krous, who passed away earlier this week after a long battle with cancer. Mrs. Krous leaves behind her husband and three children who attend school in the district. We know many of our students and staff were deeply saddened to hear of her passing. Our thoughts are with you.
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teachers, school counselor or the administration if you have any questions or concerns. Feel free to contact the main office at 740-965-3766 between the hours of 7:00 and 3:15.

Purple Up Big Walnut!
April is the month of the military child. Military children sacrifice a lot when their parents or other family members are overseas serving our country. Throughout our district, we have many students who are also military children. Purple Up Day is our district's military appreciation day to show these students that we appreciate the sacrifice they are making. This year, we will celebrate Purple Up Day on Friday, April 12. Be sure to wear purple on that day to support these students and their families!

Spring Testing Dates
Our Ohio State Spring Testing administration is right around the corner. During the testing, BWHS will operate on a two-hour delay schedule for students who are NOT testing. Students who are currently enrolled in a course with an end-of-course exam, as well as those students who are retesting in a specific area will need to report at normal time on the day of the tests. Families of students who will be testing should have received a letter in the mail with more specific information. On each testing day, please make sure your son or daughter has their school-issued chromebook, charged and ready to go! If you have any questions, please contact the main office, the school counseling office or the teacher of the specific course. Thank you!
