A Note from the Interim Principal
Dear Families,
Things are very busy as we end the month of April. You'll see the calendar looking fuller and fuller as the school year winds down.
Today, the teachers have been at school enjoying an Inservice day focused on professional development and community-building. We had a speaker share with us new ways to use our many forms of technology to their fullest capacity. We also had a presentation by our very own Mrs. Pierce examining technology and assessments. As a special treat, we enjoyed a delicious meal at Campisi's and had a chance to spend time together as faculty and friends. It's been a special day.
Thank you, in advance, to all the parents who have volunteered for the may April/May events including many field trip drivers. The special things we are able to do are possible thanks to your generosity. The students and staff at Holy Family appreciate you! Have a great week!
Blessings,
Veronica Tucker

2016 HFCS Parent Survey
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! So far, we have 2/3 parent participation in our annual survey. I cannot tell you how helpful that is. Thank you for taking the time to do this to help your students and this fabulous school!
If you have not yet completed this survey, your input is still valuable and will be used. So far, every class EXCEPT THIRD GRADE has earned popsicles this week thanks to over 50% participation in each class. Third Grade parents --- we just need 2 of you to complete and then the whole school can participate! This needs to be done by end of day today to qualify for the sweet treat TOMORROW.
Results will be shared with our families next week.
Thank you, Claudi, Ava and Mrs. Puente!

Prayer Garden
This summer, HFCS is installing a beautiful new feature on the southeast corner of the school building — the Holy Family Alumni Prayer Garden. In connection with the school’s ongoing 70th anniversary celebration, HFCS families and alumni, as well as all Holy Family parishioners, are invited to participate in this project. There are two ways to be a part of the Prayer Garden project:
(1) Sponsor a brick — Have your name, the name of a HFCS student or alumni, or another special message engraved on a brick in the garden walkway. To honor HFCS’s 70th year of Teaching the Way of Jesus Christ, you can reserve your brick today for $70.
(2) Put a name on the HFCS Wall of Service — Honor a beloved current or former HFCS teacher, administrator, volunteer, or anyone else who has impacted our children’s lives in the last 70 years by submitting their name for inclusion on the Wall of Service plaque that will be installed in the Prayer Garden ($20 per name).

Summer Solutions
Please place your order by May 8, 2016. (Ordering information below.) Choose the level that matches your child's current grade level and then select your books. Your books will be delivered to the school within 2 weeks of the order deadline date. For every book ordered by May 8th, Holy Family Catholic School will receive $1.00 which will be put towards school programs. Again, this is a purely optional program. Do not feel any obligation to participate.
For Summer Solutions English Grammar & Writing Mechanics, Problem Solving, Reading Comprehension, and Study Skills:
Choose the level that corresponds with the grade level just completed. For example, if your child is just finishing 5th grade, choose Level 5.
Summer Solutions Pre-K Math and Language Arts is intended for students who will enter kindergarten in the next school year.
For Original Summer Solutions Mathematics:
If your child has just completed kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th grade, choose the level of the grade just completed. For example, if your child is just finishing 3rd grade, choose Level 3.
If your child has just completed 5th grade, choose Intermediate A.
If your child has just completed 6th grade, choose Intermediate B.
If your child has just completed 7th grade, choose Pre- Algebra.
If your child has just completed 8th grade, choose Algebra I, Part A.
Some sample books are in Mrs. Tucker's office if you would like to preview.

From Our HFCS PTO
PTO Meeting tomorrow, Tuesday at 6:00 pm with childcare. We will work on the calendar for next year with a goal to have it ready for final reviews very soon. We also need nominations and volunteers for leadership positions for next year.
Here are the planned areas/roles for discussion and filling:
- President – I planned to do this for two years, but speak up if you want to do it.
- President-in-Waiting (or call it Vice President, this is the person who will be president in 2017-18.)
- Treasurer – pre-process expense reimbursements, interface with Business Manager, report finances
- Room Parents – at least two per grade works well. These, of course, can be grandparents or other relatives who have Safe Environment Certification. It would be very helpful to discuss/decide these now for next year.
- Focal Points
o Teacher Appreciation – could use two people, experienced advice is available
o Social - we might want to have leads for each event on the calendar…?
o Volunteers – request volunteers as needed for all kinds of events. Currently I do this through the room parents.
o Fund Raising – Mandy Jonkers will return for next year and could use another person
o Projects (maybe)
We are winding up a very successful year in which many people worked hard and cheerfully. IT IS TIME TO STEP UP SO WE CAN HIT THE GROUND RUNNING FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR. Room Parents and I are eager to discuss with you. Please volunteer or nominate someone. Email pto@hfsfw.org
