A Message from Mrs. Caudill
I am hoping this finds all of you well. The closure of our schools is an unprecedented action during the course of my career and lifetime. This last week has been a whirlwind. It's hard to imagine that a little over a week ago, this wasn't even on anyone's radar. Now, we are living in a reality that none of us ever imagined. I know parents are struggling, kids need routine. As a parent, I am struggling. I want to make sure I am providing my child what he is missing. But, the reality is, I am never going to be able to replace what my son gets in school. I think that is what is adding to my own stress in all of this.
Having said that, I appreciate your patience as we figure out this new uncharted territory. We know our parents want more and our kids want more. I promise you, we are working on it. As soon as we have something concrete to share, I will make sure all our parents have it.
The District is committed to providing up to date information to all of our families as it becomes available. You can access information, updates, and FAQs here. Additionally, the district has started providing grab-and-go meals for any child under the age of 18. Click here for more details.
Take Care and Be Well!

A Note from the NPS Support Staff
Northville Families,
The school social work/school psychology/counseling department wanted to share resources for your children and families to utilize until we resume school. Below are some tips from the CDC to keep in mind as we move forward:
Turn off the TV: Avoid excessive exposure to media coverage of COVID-19.
Take care of your body. Take deep breaths, stretch or meditate. Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals, exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep.
Make time to unwind and remind yourself that strong feelings will fade. Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories. It can be upsetting to hear about the crisis and see images repeatedly. Try to do some other activities you enjoy to return to your normal life.
Connect with others. Share your concerns and how you are feeling with a friend or family member. Maintain healthy relationships.
Maintain a sense of hope and positive thinking.
Please download the attached PDF for additional enrichment ideas and links to community resources.

TIPS ON CREATING A DAILY SCHEDULE
School has been shut down, how do I manage the day with my child(ren) home from school? What we know is children do best when we can keep a normal routine or schedule in place every day. Khan Academy created some suggested daily schedules that I thought you might find useful! Click here to access all of the Khan Academy created schedules.
Of course Khan Academy is suggesting you use their resources for each of the content areas, but your child(ren)(s) classroom teachers sent out a variety of other learning opportunities and activities you could use during each of the scheduled times that align with the grade level curriculum. Remember these are just a couple of suggestions. Sit down with your child(ren) and make a schedule that works for you! Most importantly enjoy the time with one another!
Scavenger Hunt!
Looking for something fun to do to get moving? How about a scavenger hunt! A big thanks to Ms. LaManna for putting this together for us. Picture and downloadable/printable pdf below for your convenience.
Northville Civic Concern Needs Our Continued Support
Hello, Amerman Bobcat Families:
We are writing today with an urgent request. Mrs. Parnin just spoke with Marlene at Northville Civic Concern, her organization needs our help! With many children home from school and many employees off from work, the need for food and household items is growing each day. We are writing to ask each Bobcat family to evaluate their own food and household supplies and consider donating to the Northville Civic Concern. Today we are asking that our Bobcat leaders consider an optional community service project by copying and pasting the note below or writing their own version of it with their own information and sending it out to your neighbors. If you do this project, please place a LARGE PLASTIC BIN on your porch and have your child make a sign that says, “For Civic Concern.” If you do send out the note, thank you ahead of time! The community thanks you, and we know our Bobcat leaders can make a difference. Feel free to share a picture of your child collecting items with us via email.
To drop food off at Civic Concern please see the address and drop-off times below. Feel free to call the office to see if Marlene or one of her amazing volunteers will be there to accept your donation. As long as they are open you are also welcome to call, let them know you are coming and leave your donations outside their building. If you’d rather just make a monetary donation, they can be made on the Civic Concern website.

Also, families can donate while respecting social distancing by dropping off donations to Door #5 at Ward Church (6 Mile and Haggerty) any time, any day of the week. https://ward.church/springbounty/
In addition, we recognize that some Amerman families may also find themselves in need due to unexpected income loss. Optional Note:
Dear Neighbors,
I am a Bobcat from Amerman Elementary School. During the month of January, we collected food and household items for Northville Civic Concern. My family will drop the items off at the Civic Concern office so we can help those people in need. Please click here if you’d like to learn more about Civic Concern. Thank you for your help and support!
My address for drop-off is:__________________________________________

Talent Show
Calling all volunteers with a passion for giving students a voice and place to shine: We are looking for a group of parents/volunteers willing to run this year’s talent show. We would need parents helping in sending a communication to participants, running the tryouts during lunch and recess the second to last week in May, and/or working behind the scenes (at home) collecting music for the show. If you are interested and can help in any way, please email Blake Vertrees at vertreesbl@northvilleschools.org for more information.
