Asociacion De Estudiantes Latinos
La Fuerza Latina
You are the real MVP!
Thank you so much to all of our new members and returners for coming out to our first meet and greet of the semester! We had an incredible turn out and we loved meeting all of you. This truly will be the best year AdEL has ever seen!
Our next meeting will be this Monday, Sept. 15 @ 8pm in Room 223!
Please come out to our first program, "Coba, Quisqueya, Boriken: El Mundo de Los Tainos." It will be focusing on Taino culture and we have a lot of important information to present to you guys about our history as Latinos. Additionally, we will be giving you more information about events that are just around the corner!
Where is AdELito?
AdELito is our organization's mascot. You will meet him soon! Every week, AdELito will be in different parts of the world, including countries that aren't usually pegged as Latino. This week, AdELito is somewhere in Latin America. Come to our meeting to find out where he is and to see what country we put in the spotlight.
But what's a Latino?
Here is an interesting article about how we as Latinos choose to identify ourselves. Give it a read!
SOCA Dance Team Tryouts
The Student Organization for Caribbean Awareness is having tryouts! Go show them what you've got on September 26th from 5 pm to 7 pm and on September 27th from 12 pm to 2 pm.
AdEL's Free Food Fun Friday!
It's so close! On September 26th we will be having our Free Food Fun Friday. Keep it in mind and let us know if you would like to be a part of this great event. We can use all the help that we can get!
Babel Auditions
Babel, Temple's amazing poetry collective, is having auditions on September 15th in Room 205 at 8 pm. They are asking for 3 memorized minutes of your best material, a typed poem, and another memorized poem. Good luck!
We are AdEL
AdEL stands for “Asociación de Estudiantes Latinos”. We are the Latino umbrella organization on campus. We have various groups that are "under us" such as the dance group (Esencia Latina), Latino Greeks, and many more. Not exclusive to just Latinos, we invite everyone and anyone of any race, religion, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. Our mission is to enhance awareness of Latino issues and heritage in the Temple University community; to provide forum for Latino students; to advocate for issues that have a direct impact on the Latino student body specifically and the Temple community in general; to provide support and resources to the Latino campus community; to facilitate and promote communication among members, to sponsor activities and events that ensure AdEL`s purpose; and to collaborate with other organizations within and outside of Temple University.
