Summer Band Camp

Incoming 5th-grade band students are automatically registered for summer band camp during enrollment. All beginning band students are highly encouraged to attend this optional camp, it's a great way to get beginning band students started off on the right foot (marching band pun intended!) Beginner band camp starts at 9am for woodwinds (flute and clarinet) and 11am for brass and percussion (trumpet, trombone, and percussion) August 2-6 at the GEHS band room.

Please follow the link below to register your incoming 6th, 7th, or 8th grader for summer band camp. We will meet from 1:30-3:30 on August 2-6 at the GEHS band room. The cost is $40 per student. We hope to see you there!

USD 231 Summer Enrichment Program

The USD 231 Nutrition Services department is excited to announce that FREE summer meals will begin on Tuesday, June 1!

Although we will not have any on-site dining options available this summer, we are thrilled to be able to continue to offer FREE weekly curbside take-home meal kits on Tuesdays from June 1 – July 27 (no service on July 6). Kits are available to ALL kids ages 1-18 regardless of residence or income thanks to the USDA’s federally-funded Summer Food Service Program.

As you may know, our team has been hard at work this year to ensure that all of our community’s kids have had access to high-quality, healthy meals since our world was turned upside down in March 2020. This summer brings another chapter in that adventure as we roll out the best of everything we’ve learned from our pickup loop conversations and feedback from our families.

Here are the highlights of this summer’s meal offerings:

  • All kits will include entrees for 7 lunches and 7 breakfasts

  • Kits will also be packed with a weekly fresh produce bundle (featuring local farms!) and 2 half gallons of milk

  • Pre-ordering from our Nutrislice menu website is also available for an expanded selection of items including:

    • Ability to select your milk choices (here’s where you can select none!)

    • Vegetarian kit with meatless options for those who prefer this choice (quantities limited, pre-order required)

    • New THIRD option (the Fridge Filler!) that includes a weekly set of staples to help keep your budget on track (quantities limited, pre-order required)

    • Automatic registration for kid-less pickup (with no weekly email to show in line!)

Meals will be distributed from GEHS on Tuesdays from 12pm – 6pm. Tell your friends and neighbors that online ordering is open NOW! Never fear, if you don’t want to hassle with ordering online you can always show up with your kiddos and we’ll have the current week’s Greatest Hits (kit 1) waiting for you along with two half gallons of milk for each kiddo in your vehicle.

For more details, please visit our menu website at usd231.nutrislice.com and select the GEHS Curbside Summer Meals menu option and navigate to June 1. For assistance with ordering, check out the “Need Help?” button in the upper right corner (desktop) or under the bell icon (mobile) from our menu site. (For up-to-date info throughout the summer, follow us on Facebook!)

On behalf of our team, we can’t wait to see all of you again in the loop! Hooray for summer!
