Seniors: Work Ethic Diploma
D-B EXCEL is excited to offer the "Work Ethic Diploma" distinction to our senior students. To kick off this opportunity, we will be hosting an ice cream social for all seniors where we will discuss the Work Ethic Diploma so they can earn this credential by the end of the school year. No matter which pathway students are on, they can benefit from going through this process and earning the Work Ethic credential.
Work Ethic Diploma Ice Cream Social
September 11, 2018
3:00pm in the DBE Cafe
The "Work Ethic Diploma" is a workforce readiness credential that can be earned by high school seniors in participating counties. Students who earn the Work Ethic Diploma will be given preference for job interviews at partnering employers if they meet all other qualifications of the job posting.
Participating students will receive a list of Work Ethic Diploma Standards which includes 14 achievement categories. Each achievement category has one, two, or three subcategories that are assigned a point value. Students who sign up for the Work Ethic Diploma must complete enough of the goals set out in the achievement categories to score 20 points in order to receive the diploma.

Parent Contact Information:
If your child becomes ill or has an emergency, it is important that we be able to reach you. Please make sure that the school has an accurate telephone number(s) listed for you. This will enable the school to contact you in the event that your child needs you during the school day. Please remember to send new work telephone numbers to school if you change jobs and update cell phone numbers that change.
Medications:
Kingsport City Schools provide a licensed and/or registered medical professional at every school. All medications, prescription or over-the-counter, are to be administered or assistance given with self-administration by school personnel. Students requiring exceptions (i.e. inhalers, insulin, epi-pens, etc.) are documented with the school nurse and follow KCS School Nursing Procedures. The schools provide parents/guardians with the forms and procedures to use when students require medication.
