📚〰️Library News 〰️📚

We have a new way to look for library books and place them on hold this year. Any Heritage student or teacher may use Destiny Discover to search our online catalog and place books on hold using their ChromeBooks and iPads. We check the hold list each day and prepare the books for check out. Some books may be ready quicker than others due to some books being on our quarantine carts for a few days. It's fast and easy.

Click the button below and log in using the student's username and password. That is the same username and password they use to log on to the iPad or ChromeBook. The log in tab is at the top right hand corner. Books may be placed on hold by clicking the hold tab on the lower corner of the book. Students may place up to 10 items on hold at once.

Please call 726-4964 if you have any questions.

Happy searching,

Mrs. Drees

🏆📚Sequoyah Children’s Book Award

The Sequoyah Book award started in 1959. Children in 3rd-5th grades may read a minimum of three books from the Masterlist and vote for a favorite. Each student who reads 3 books is able to vote at school. We turn our votes in to the Oklahoma Library Association which tallies the votes for the state.

There is a wide range of reading and interest levels on the Masterlist each year. We encourage students to read books that are interesting to them. Students must read 3 titles from the Masterlist in order to vote. Below are titles from 2021 Sequoyah Children’s Masterlist.

  1. Lety Out Loud by Angela Cervantes
  2. One Third Nerd by Gennifer Choldenko
  3. The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise by Dan Gemeinhart
  4. Song For A Whale by Lynne Kelly
  5. Because of the Rabbit by Cynthia Lord
  6. Rescuing Rialto: A Baby Sea Otter’s Story by Lynda V. Mapes
  7. Meena Meets Her Match by Karla Manternach
  8. Saving Fable by Scott Reintgen
  9. The Oddmire Book One: Changeling by William Ritter
  10. Birdie by Eileen Spinelli
  11. Roll With It by Jamie Sumner
  12. A Monster Like Me by Wendy S. Swore
  13. The Light Jar by Lisa Thompson
  14. Stargazing by Jen Wang
  15. A Green Place to Be: The Creation of Central Park by Ashley Yazdani

Edmond Public Schools Launches Mobile App to Keep Community Informed and Involved!

Edmond Public Schools has launched an official mobile app designed to enable parents, staff, and students to stay informed and up-to-date on important issues, information, and activities underway within the school community. The free app is available for download in the Apple and Android app stores by searching for Edmond Public Schools.

The app features push notifications so that users may be notified about important events, announcements, and news in real-time such as bus delays. Users have the ability to choose which of the district’s schools they would like to follow, making their app experience personal and school-specific.

Key features include:

· Push messaging from both the district and school sites

· News

· Google Calendars

· Online grade book and attendance

· Lunch Menus

· Athletic Information

· Language Translations

The mobile app replaces the district's previous app, SchoolWay, which abruptly ceased operations last summer. The app was developed in cooperation with Intrado, provider of School Messenger solutions.
