Glenealy School Newsletter
21st November 2018
Message from Brenda
Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students,
Glenealy School Fair - Friday 23rd November 5:00 pm
We look forward to seeing you all at the school Fair which is only 2 days away! As a reminder, children will need to leave the campus at 3:00 pm that day to ensure an effective set up of the school grounds in preparation for the 5:00 pm opening. If your child has an after school activity - they must be closely supervised at this time. It's going to be a fun evening! Thanks to everyone who is donating time, food, cooking skills and working collaboratively with the PTA team to make this a fantastic community event.
Keep up to date by using our Glenealy School App. This is a great way to have all the key information like Newsletters, dates, calendars and contacts at your fingertips. It's a simple and easy App to use.

Helper Appreciation Day
YouTube Vs. Glenealy Globe
At Glenealy School, YouTube is blocked on the devices used by children.
The most important reason for this is safety. YouTube and the YouTube Kids app rely on users reporting inappropriate content which is then viewed by human moderators. The result of this is that it is possible for your child to view inappropriate material. The YouTube kids app has recently added some new features including playlist which seem to make the app safe for younger children. This article could help you at home if you choose to use the app.
Secondly, we want the children to learn to be discerning researchers online and learn from quality sources. Although there is high quality content on YouTube, which teachers will share with students when appropriate, the subscriptions on the Glenealy Globe will help them find more accurate content.
Glenealy School Sports Day 2018
As you will have noticed in the Dates for your Diary section of the Newsletter, Friday 30th November is our annual Sports Day. This event gives our students the opportunity to display their athletic abilities through enjoyable activities, completing challenges cooperatively with friends and competing as individuals with their peers. A strong focus will be placed on how students measure their own success intrinsically, whether that be achieving a specific goal, being a good teammate or reflecting on their performance for setting future targets.
The event will have a festival atmosphere and parents are encouraged to join us. We expect all of the activities to be completed by approximately 1:00 pm, followed by some presentations which normally last until approx 1.30 pm. All children are expected to stay until the end of the event. All parents would have received communication with details last week.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Warm regards,
Andy (PE Teacher)
