LOST AND FOUND
Our closet of missing items is overflowing! We’ll be emptying the contents for students to claim their items the week of November 16. Parents, we encourage you to stop by the tables outside the band room before/after the game on Friday, November 20 to see if you recognize anything that belongs to your family! (We will donate all remaining items after the Thanksgiving break.)
BAND BOOSTERS UPDATES
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Save the Date: General Membership Meeting
We will have a virtual General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, December 9 at 7:00 PM. Stay tuned for log-in details. Key topics on the agenda include votes for 2021 Executive Board and a by-laws amendment.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE
The following people are members of this year’s Nominating Committee: Michael Moon, Mike Long, Michael Dal Cerro, Shannon Woodson, Jennifer Ross, Rob Ross, and Gretchen Shirley. The committee will solicit candidates for officers as provided in the by-laws and present a paper ballot or virtual ballot on the band’s website to the general membership prior to the December meeting.
All officer roles are on the ballot. In particular, we are seeking nominees for the following:
VP of Ways & Means (Fundraising)
Secretary
Director of Communications
If you are interested in serving as an officer on our 2021 Executive Board or wish to nominate someone, contact director@roswellband.com
4th Annual M.A.R.C.H. Community Service Day
We are looking for a Chairperson to lead our 4th annual M.A.R.C.H!
M.A.R.C.H. stands for Musicians Acting with Responsibility, Compassion, and Hard work. If you are new to the band family or want a recap, here is a quick video of our inaugural campaign from 2018: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwEAWMNCb-k&t=2s
The Chair will be responsible for leading a team of five. (So the Chair will have plenty of help!) He/she simply needs to be well organized.
Main focus:
Kick off M.A.R.C.H. at December’s General Meeting. Then there are regular updates and reminders to help us meet our fundraising goals.
Be sure we have plenty of work sites in place, make sure we have gardening tools, and arrange for food & transportation for the service day 3/13/21.
Our Co-President, Michael Dal Cerro, will be happy to help the new leaders get started using last year’s materials and blueprint. If you are interested, contact supportservices@roswellband.com
HELP US CONTINUE TO PLAY STRONG!
For the next few weeks, we’ll be highlighting various board positions and committees so that you can learn more about our terrific organization. We want every parent to be a part of this award-winning program!
1. Treasurer
2. Secretary
1. Our Treasurer is a voting member of our board. Confidentiality and organization is key! This position helps the executive board and band directors create and implement a budget and set fees for the different programs. The person in this position is also responsible for each student's individual account, where their account stands, the money they owe if they are on scholarship, and communicating pertinent information to parents and guardians.
Please help! “CHARMERS” needed!
We urgently need 1-2 people to help our Treasurer receive and record all monies and deposit in an account established by the Association or the Band. Please contact Aimee Christian at treasurer@roswellband.com if you are able to help. Thanks!
2. The Secretary is also a voting member of our board. The responsibility of this position includes taking notes at all executive board meetings and all the general meetings. Notes then are transcribed and posted online for all members to read. The secretary is also responsible for compiling and posting the band directory.
If you have any interest in serving on a board position, a committee lead, or to be part of a committee please don’t hesitate to contact our VP of Support Services, Jane Sowden at supportservices@roswellband.com or at 404-931-7901. She is happy to go over any questions you may have about any positions.
