Canyon Quest | Penasquitos Creek Park
Sunday, May 5 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Reserve your start times by signing up at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xEkfsLjJru1M61RfrAPCI_ruUbgxGkkR9xc6DZvaKPM/edit#gid=0 .
Get together with friends to form a team of up to 4 students and have fun together. This is a FREE family geocaching event starting at Penasquitos Creek Park, across the street from the school. Go at your own pace to find hidden "treasures" (caches) that the DADS group place in the canyon preserve and provide coordinates for. There are two courses - the short course is recommended for Kindergarten through 2nd grade, and the long course is recommended for 3rd through 5th graders. A cache is a container with trinkets that each student can take or trade, and can keep three of, when done. Trinkets can be exchanged for different ones at the caches. You will get more detailed info after you sign up. Contact Victor for more info: vicjchan@juno.com.

Recycling Day | Last Collection Day of the School Year
This will be the last collection of the school year. Winners for the most items brought in for each grade, most for a classroom, and top individuals will be announced at Friday Flag on May 17th. The winning class gets an ice cream party! Tally up your items on a small piece of scratch paper, and bring it with your CRV (California Redemption Value) plastic and glass bottles and aluminum cans. Please separate glass and crush the items if possible. Household batteries are also accepted but do not count toward the prize tally. If you can, please come out to help sort and crush (counts towards volunteer hours for kids). Email pvesdads1@gmail.com to help.
Park Village's Annual 4th and 5th Graders Cross Country Run
The annual PV 4th & 5th Grade Cross Country Run will be held on Tuesday, May 21st at 9:00am. Lace up your shoes and start training! Come one, come all, and cheer on our 4th and 5th graders as they run a mile course around the school. All participants will receive a ribbon, and medals will be awarded to the top finishers.
We will need parent volunteers to make this event successful. Come out and help us while cheering on your child! Or if you are a parent of a child not yet in 4th or 5th grade, come help us out to see what to expect when your child does participate. If you can volunteer in any way (setup, handing out waters, directing runners, timing, photographer, clean up), please contact Inge Buchmiller at buchmilleri@gmail.com.

Walk Against Hate ~ May 19
Hello Park Village Families! As you know, our school is completing activities to become an official No Place For Hate School this year. As an additional activity, we've chosen to participate in the Walk Against Hate.
Please join PVES teachers, staff, and families at the Walk Against Hate on May 19th 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Ingram Plaza, Liberty Station. At this event, Park Village Elementary will be honored for becoming a No Place For Hate School with a banner to display in our MPR! This is a non-political walk to celebrate making all of San Diego No Place For Hate. Thank you for your support! We hope to have a great showing representing our school at the Walk Against Hate on May 19th.
