PANTHER PROGRESS
November 2023 Issue 4
Message from our administrators
As we get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving in a few weeks, it’s an opportunity to think and reflect on what brings us thanks. Lincoln thanks our Lincoln CommUNITY and we are grateful for our 624 students and the families that partner with their education. We adore that 86.7% of our parents and families attended our Parent-Teacher Conferences last month and we value the opportUNITY to keep communication strong between home and school. Report cards will be going home next week and we look forward to celebrating the hard work of our students while we continue striving to meet and then exceed grade level expectations in every classroom. Most of all, we're fortunate each day that we have the chance to serve our students and families in our quest for excellence.
Thank you for being part of our Lincoln Family. We value you and appreciate your ongoing collaboration and trust.
In your service,
Eric Rhodes - Principal
Mary Beth Smith - Assistant Principal

Habits of Learning @ LNES
Our next step in the emotional regulation program at Lincoln is helping students connect what they’ve learned about their brain and body and apply it to their academic success. Lincoln has adapted the FCPS program of Habits of Work into our school wide “Habits of Learning for Lincoln leaders”. You can click HERE to go to the page of the counselor website that has video lessons for parents, and shares the videos we’ve created for students. The Lincoln leader language and skills are also used in our restorative discipline program. The link above has a video that explains how these two programs work together to help students develop skills for lifelong learning.
The school counseling team: The “Super Support Squad”
Ms. Ellis (grades 3-5) Madison.Ellis@fcps.org
Mrs. Quill (grades PreK-2) Heather.Quill@fcps.org
Ms. Dodson (Behavior Support Specialist) Heather.Dodson@fcps.org
Mrs. Nelson (Social Worker) Amy.Nelson@fcps.org
The team works closely with students, staff, and families, to grow a learning community where all members are healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged to be their best self. The three major areas of focus at Lincoln are:
Teaching and practicing emotional awareness and emotional regulation
Developing and maintaining healthy relationships, which includes the use of restorative practices to help all members learn to communicate effectively and resolve conflicts in a positive and productive manner.
Instructing students, staff, and families about the role of the brain in learning in order to increase student independence and academic stamina
This website has multiple resources for students and families. It also has videotaped lessons we use with students and parent videos that explain our emotional regulation program.
