New system changes-technology updates
With the new system parents need to continue to check SwimTopia throughout meet for relay changes & updated heat sheets- we no longer print updated heat sheets but we re-seeded & update free relays before it's time to go to the ready benches, so use the digital versions, not the paper versions for most current info. We had a few relays not get to Swim because tent parents were relying on old info. People get sick & things change at the last minute so this is important to check.
RSVPing for the meet
RSVP will open each Sunday at 8pm.
If you have not RSVP'd by Tuesday, we have to assume that you will not be attending and your child will not be entered into the meet.
A note from Coach Ashley
Hi Cuda families,
Please remember EACH FAMILY chooses their swimmer's events. You may pick up to 3 individual events. I may move them around to better seed the meet, earn points, have swimmers in all events so we don't give points away, accommodating people that have to leave early, etc., but YOU choose up to 3 individual events first. Some people said they were coming to the meet but never chose any events & then they aren't entered into the meet. We have a new system & YOU need to choose events. You can always say 'no fly ever' or 'he'd like to try IM if you think he is ready' or 'we only picked 2 events because that's all he is comfortable with', but please make your selections when you say you are attending the meet.
Also people wrote in coach's notes that they weren't eligible for an event & didn't understand why- you have to have a time for each event to enter into the meet. You can get a time at the lap pool & send it to firstname.lastname@example.org for that event so that it can be entered before the next meet. Some of you told us that you did get it at time trials & it didn't get entered, please send us the time you remember going so that it can be corrected.
If you know you have to leave early, enter your swimmer into early events like 100 free, 25 free, & breast for example. If you are coming late, make sure someone checks in for you & enter yourself into events like back & fly.
If you are wanting to swim at Invitationals & trying to get qualifying times for every event, please make sure you swim all events early in the season. When we have Divisionals (Championship meet), I will want to make sure you are swimming in your best events or best chance at scoring for the team, so you don't want to wait to the last minute needing a fly qualifying time because you haven't swam it all season.
Last, please RSVP to the meet yes on time, we had some swimmers that would have made it onto relays if they had declared they were attending the meet before entries were turned in. We will only create relays off of swimmers who say they will for sure be there. Please know relays are created based on the fastest 12 times. First 4 fastest times in free will be on the A relay, next 4 fastest will be on the B relay, then the next 4 will be on the C relay. We are only allowed to enter 3 relays. These times will change throughout the season so swimmers may earn an A relay spot or a C relay spot for the first time. These may be vastly different after the first meet if time trials weren't their best times too. Relays are not chosen by coaches - they are not subjective. I do go through after the first meet & make sure, based on my coaching staff & what we see at practices, that my medley relays are legal swimmers in breast & fly to the best of my ability. So for example, I want to do my best to make sure after the computer chooses relays based on times, I know Sally can swim breast & Susie knows fly. They are young & are all learning, so this isn't a perfect process, but I do try to look at this.
Let's have a great week! Go Cudas!

PLEASE WATCH YOUR CUDAS & LITTLE SIBLINGS!
Although most of the kids playing around the pool are on the swim team and reasonably good swimmers, we request parents watch their kids. Even the best swimmer can struggle if they accidentally fall into the water.
It is very tempting for younger children to splash in the water around the diving boards or near the steps, but this is dangerous and not allowed during swim team practices and swim meets. Only registered swim team participants should be in the water and only during their designated practice time.
If your child is waiting for their practice to begin and wants to play ball, they must use the grassy area outside the fence between the pool and the playground equipment. Not only is it a larger area, but it is safer as well. Footballs, frisbees, and other sports balls are not allowed inside the pool area during practice and swim meets. We have had incidents in the past where parents and children have been hit.
Please keep your children from pulling the bark off the trees and removing the mulch at the base of the trees. The team is responsible for any damage to the landscaping around the pool area.
Climbing on the fence around the pool is not allowed. If you or your child need something outside the fence perimeter, please exit the pool area through the main pool gates to retrieve it.
We really want to keep practices open, meaning non-swimmers can be inside the gates during practice. However, if we have people that are not following the rules, we will have to do a closed practice. This means the only people allowed inside the pool gates during practice will be the coaches and swimmers in the current practice. All others would have to sit outside the gates.
If you have any questions regarding this request, please feel free to contact the Board of Directors at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks for your help with this!
RULES & REMINDERS FOR PARENTS AND SWIMMERS
As swim team practices begin, we need everyone's assistance in order to make efficient use of time and have a successful season as a result.
- The pool, activity center and surrounding areas are no smoking (including vape) areas.
- Alcoholic beverages may not be openly consumed in and around the pool area, including Festival Park and the Activity Center.
- BBST has a zero tolerance policy for bullying. Any behavior determined by the Board of Directors to be bullying will result in the dismissal of that swimmer or family from the team without a refund. This includes swimmers, siblings, parents and other adults and children at practices, pep rallies, special events, or meets.
- Pets are not allowed in the pool area (except for Service Animals wearing the proper identification).
