For Cherokee County Chamber Members

07 MEMBER INFORMATION CENTER - JOB POSTINGS

ARE YOU HIRING? USE YOUR CHAMBER MEMBERSHIP TO HELP GET THE WORD OUT!

These are strange times. Seems like every business is hiring, and at the same time, it seems like no one wants to work. That is the repeated expression we hear at the Chamber. But this scenario is playing out across the country. Staffing shortages have lead many offices, restaurants, and all types of businesses to implement adjusted hours, or had to limit available services.

If you are a chamber member and are looking for staffing, why not post your employment opportunity in the JOBS section of the Chamber website. It is one of the most trafficked pages on the site. And why is that? Look at our region! It offers so much in the way of beauty, change from the hectic and busy pace, whether as a place to retire or a place to raise a family, Cherokee County and surrounding areas have so much to offer and people are moving here in droves - and looking for work, as well as a living accommodations.

Want to learn how to create a job posting that can reach thousands? Check out this months video on the BENEFITTING FROM YOUR MEMBERSHIP series featuring JOB POSTING using your MEMBER INFORMATION CENTER.

The Photinus Carolinus - better known as the Synchronized Firefly

Of the thousands of firefly species in the world, and the 19 varieties found in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, only one is known for its unique lightshow - the photinus carolinus.

During a short window of opportunity that occurs between the middle of May and June, these synchronized fireflies will create a blanket of gorgeous light along the forest floors.

It was once thought that these fireflies were unique to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, but populations of this species has shown up in a handful of other locations in the country, and as far as Asia.

The Elkmont Campground has been designated the ideal spot for "local" viewing, but vehicle passes (allotted by lottery) are required to get choice “seating.” Sorry - the deadline for those passes is TODAY (Monday, May 2). The application process starts in April - so bookmark this page if you want to toss your hat in for next year.

Nonetheless, if you’re in the Appalachian region during this time, you can still enjoy the beautiful lightshow (synchronized or not) of these fascinating creatures.
