Mrs. Greene's 3rd Grade
February 12, 2018
A Great Week!
We ended the day today with a HAPPY DANCE by my absolute favorite singer...Barry Manilow. Who doesn't love a little Copacabana on a Friday afternoon? The kids seemed less than thrilled, except Addi, who did a little dance with me!
Things I saw happen in Room 9 this week...
- Today during Math Workshop, Ella came to me to ask me how to solve double digit multiplication problems. She overheard me working with a small group on this challenging skill and wanted to learn the skill as well. WOW!!
- Yuvani is working hard to learn a song that she will sing for her SSL project!
- Bridget had an AMAZING week giving her best listening and participation!
- Evangelin is combining her Persuasive Writing topic with her SSL learning. She is learning a lot!
- Shota is reading a lot more and did a great job presenting his SSL information to the class about dinosaurs.
- Ethan has the BEST manners. We are all going to start saying, "pardon" instead of "huh" when we need clarification.
- Kaeleb did a great job contributing to the work of SSL Teammates! They were thankful for your creative ideas!
- Siddharth is learning about TREES for his SSL. He is making connections about his learning and our unit on plants. It's fun to watch him work!
These are just a few of the MANY things I observed! Stay tuned for more...
ISTEP for all 3rd Grade Classes begins on Monday, February 26. We test in the morning each day that week. If at all possible, please try to schedule doctor's appointments around these dates and times.
We are learning The Seven Habits of Happy Kids and currently working on SEEK FIRST TO UNDERSTAND, THEN TO BE UNDERSTOOD! This skill focuses on:
*Listening to others
*Don't blurt out answers during instruction at school
*Trying to understand the feelings of others.
We will decorate our Valentine's Bags on Monday. Feel free to start sending your child's Valentine's on this day. Students will begin passing them out on Monday, as well.
Hope to see many of you at the party on Wednesday, February 14 from 1:30-2:30!
Looking forward to a GREAT week next week!
Enjoy your weekend...
