ESS Update

Week ending March 3

Update from Mrs. Weber

It's been so nice to see the sun shining and the snow melting! Let's hope this trend continues.

Just a reminder-we continue to be a nut free school-all lunches, snacks and treats that are sent in must be nut free.

We are in the process of updating all of our permanent records. You may receive a call from the office secretaries asking for any paperwork we may be missing. We appreciate your help and cooperation with this important update.

I realize that inconsistencies with buses is frustrating. As soon as we receive the notification about a bus not running, we send an email to the families of the affected bus as well as I tweet about it. We are not privy to any rationale behind the decisions that are made. Please be sure to check your email each morning. Also if you have changed your email address, please be sure to let us know in the office so we can update it. The number for the bus company is 203-922-1311-they can address any issues that you have and answer any questions.

Have a great weekend-Mrs. Weber

Big picture

Morning Drop Off Reminders

All traffic in the morning MUST come in from Soundview and exit out onto Willoughby.

When dropping off in the morning, if you must get out of your car to assist your child, please pull into a parking spot and walk your child across ONLY at the crosswalk. Only children who can get out of the car independently should be in the the drop off line. This way we can keep traffic moving and avoid creating a line which spills out onto the street. Thank you for your cooperation with this important safety measure.

Pick Up Reminders

When picking up your child from school, please remember to keep a 6 foot distance from the next person, masks must remain on for adults and children until you get to your car and you must always have ID ready to show the staff on duty. Thank you for following these guidelines and keeping everyone safe.

Travel Guidelines

Opting into full-distance learning (FDL) is not intended for students who are taking vacations. District policy states that teachers are not required to provide work for students who are choosing to take vacations during school days.

FDL is for families who are keeping their children home for COVID health reasons or who are in quarantine after an exposure. Furthermore, per state law, you must quarantine and should not send your child to school for 10 days after arriving in CT.

Executive Order Regarding Travel: Pursuant to Governor Lamont's Executive Order No. 9S, anyone traveling into Connecticut from a state or territory, other than New York, New Jersey, or Rhode Island, or from a country other than the United States, is directed to self-quarantine for a 10-day period from the time of last contact within the identified state or country.

For additional guidance on international travel, visit the COVID-19 Travel Recommendations section of the CDC's website.

If you have traveled out of Connecticut, you must fill out the Shelton travel survey prior to coming back to school:
