Student Council

We recently shared information with students about how to join Student Council. Please remind your children to check their email daily. Below is what we shared with them. For a full list of all clubs and activities we will offer, check the bottom of the newsletter. A link to the Activity Brochure will be in every newsletter.

Do others consider you a leader? Do you have interest in school community and spirit? Are you a dependable student that works well with others? If the answer is yes, then virtual student council might be for you!

If you want to join, consider the following:

1. We will meet digitally on Google Meet (no in-person meetings)

2. Our first meeting is Tuesday, December 1 at 4:30

3. You don't have to come to every meeting. Just come when you can!

4. If you struggled with remote learning in the spring, virtual student council might not be your jam!

5. Meeting dates will be posted to the Google Classroom in the future

Questions can be saved for our first meeting, December 1 @ 4:30. Again, if you can't make it, that's okay! We will see you next time.

If you want to join, add our Google Classroom using this code: xhebugq

Operation Give Back (OGB) - Canned Food Drive

Operation Give Back (OGB) is an organization that provides assistance to local families in need. With the holidays just around the corner, the Greene School will help stock their food pantry with our Canned Food Drive. We are now collecting canned goods and any other non- perishable food items (such as cereal, mac and cheese, pasta, peanut butter, etc.), along with toiletries (toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, personal hygiene items, etc.). Please note that we cannot accept items in glass. There is a large bin located in the Front Lobby for your donations. We will accept your donations until December 2, 2020. Thank you!

Report Card Information

First-quarter grades are now available via your Sycamore Parent Portal. A PDF of your child’s report card will be able to view and print. We will not be sending home a printed version of the report card.

We want to make you aware that there may be an increase in absent hours reported if your student was under quarantine at any point throughout this first quarter. This is due to a coding error and will reflect correctly in the future. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation while we address this issue.

If you need a reminder about how to access Parent Portal or need to set up an account, here are directions for access to Parent Portal. If you need assistance, please contact The Technology Help Desk (513) 686-1793 or email them at helpdesk@sycamoreschools.org If you have any questions regarding your child’s report card, please contact your child’s teacher.

Hearing and Vision Screening for 5th Graders

Annual Hearing and Vision Screening will be conducted for all 5th graders starting the week of November 9th and will be ongoing until Thanksgiving Break. Please email the school nurse if you do NOT want your child screened.

Lost and Found

We have seen a significant reduction in the number of items in the lost and found compared to previous years. Please be sure to put your child's name on coats, jackets, lunchboxes, and other items so we can return them promptly.

Copied on Correspondence Requests

If you need or want to be copied on correspondence (for anything the school sends out), please send an email to arfstromc@sycamoreschools.org.

Thank you.

PTO NEWS!

PTO Volunteers Needed

Are you interested in getting involved at the Greene School? It’s true that we can’t physically be in the building as volunteers for now this year, but there is still much we can do to impact our children’s educational experience.

We are particularly in need of co-chairs for some of our programs. Don’t let the word chair deter you. Think of it more as a coordinator role for the program. Most of the programs that we have traditionally done will not be able to be done the same way with the current restrictions, but there are certainly ways to think creatively to be able create a program or activity what will work. Each week we will highlight a different program that we are looking for Co-Chairs for. Get together with a friend or just volunteer yourself and a great way to get to know others.

Arts Alive - This Greene School PTO program is held every other year in the March timeframe. It is a weeklong celebration of the arts that traditionally consisted of bringing in a wide range of artists during the lunch timeframe to demonstrate their craft to the students. This year it would likely need to be re-imagined.

Click here for information on all of the Greene PTO Programs and Committees. Committee Descriptions

If any of these are roles you would be interested in getting more information about, please reach out to Co-VP Programs, Betsy Rinehart and Kathy Mercurio, at grptovpprog@sycamoreschools.org.

Below you will find the google form to fill out for any Chair roles, committees or general volunteer positions for this school year. We know that some of these activities are unlikely, but in the event that something changes we would like to have people in as many positions as possible.

A note from Dr. Debelak at Montgomery Elementary

Hello Parents of current 5th graders!

Are you missing your child's artwork from last year? Haven’t had a chance to pick up the 2019-20 Montgomery Yearbook you ordered? November 20, 2020 is your last chance to get these items. Please come to the vestibule in front of Montgomery Elementary between the hours of 9am-3pm and a staff member will get you your items. We will allow 2 people at one time in the vestibule. Masks and social distancing are mandatory!

Thanks!
