Mill Valley Weekly

Thursday, September 10th, 2020

Hello Mill Valley Families,

It's been a great week! We have now visited every classroom at Mill Valley to read Lucy's Mask. This is a book where Lucy wears different masks to be different characters such as a detective or explorer. The best part of the book is when Lucy learns that she is a super hero by saving the world by wearing her mask to keep others from getting sick. We also discussed all the ways students can be safe at Mill Valley in order for us to stay open.

Don't forget - tomorrow is Patriot Day. Please wear red, white and blue.

Important Information

Please note that we continue to update our Parent FAQ document with relevant information. We encourage you to take some time to read it thoroughly. Please don't hesitate to contact Mrs. Schrot, or Mrs. Harris, with additional questions.

We need your help!

Parent drop off and pick up are going very well and we appreciate your patience and flexibility while we continue to make improvements.

  • Please do not arrive early for morning drop off. Drop off begins at 8:55am and we do not have adult supervision outside before the bell rings. If you arrive before that time, students should remain in the vehicle until staff are present.
  • We are asking for those picking up, to not arrive until 3:25pm. Please keep in mind, our students are still in class until that time. Back up onto Hilllendale has been occurring due to parents/guardians arriving early (between 3:00-3:20). Reminder, parent pick up goes until 3:55pm. HINT: There is no line at this time. :)
  • In order to get as many cars into the parking lot, please pull up as closely as possible to the car in front of you.

New to Mill Valley Elementary

Meet Mrs. Setzke - Interventionist

Hi All! My name is Mary Beth Setzke. I live in the town of Waukesha with my husband Dave, and our four year old Australian Shepard, Leo. We have two boys, Christopher and Jonathan, who are still in school working on their PhD. I retired from teaching first grade this past June at McKinley Elementary in Wauwatosa.

I love to ride my road bike, camp, travel, and read! I just could not stand to be away from kids, so I’ve decided to join you all on a part time basis as an interventionist aide. I’m looking forward to meeting and working with you all at Mill Valley!

Meet Ms. Krutz - General Aide

Hello my name is Taylor Krutz. I graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran High School and continued on to study Clinical Psychology at Lakeland University. I am still in the process of acquiring my degree and have always loved school. This makes me even more excited to be able to help children learn, grow, and show them going to school can be fun! In my free time I am currently a volunteer coach for the cheer team at St. Jacobi Lutheran School. I also love to go on walks and bike rides with my dog CJ. I also spend a lot of free time with my parents, 3 sisters, and 4 nieces and nephews. I am so excited to start this new journey with Mill Valley Elementary. And cannot wait to see what the future holds!

Meet Mrs. Kin - General Aide

Hello, My name is Heidi Kin. I am a First Grade Aide. I live in Wind Lake with my husband Tony and three children. My oldest, Owen is 11 and attends Lake Denoon. My daughter Isabella is 9 and attends Lakeview along with my youngest Noah who just started Kindergarten.

We love to spend any free time outdoors. We enjoy bike rides, walks, gardening, snowmobiling and ATV/UTV trips.

I am so happy to be a part of this great school!

Are you looking for part-time employment? We are in need of Guest Aides.

We partner with Teachers on Call to fill our open positions for guest teachers and aides. Guest aides support teachers in the classroom and supervise lunch and recess. Please apply online at or call 1-800-713-4439.
