A Message from the Principal:
Dear North Parents,
On Monday it was wonderful to see all our students back at North! We are proud of our students who did a great job adhering to our safety protocols. We know that this isn’t easy, but it is necessary if we want our schools to remain open. We’d also like to encourage all our students and families to help keep schools open. We can help decrease the spread by following the safety guidelines outside of school, including wearing a mask, reducing social gatherings inside, and washing our hands regularly. Thank you for your support.
Take Care,
Dr. Kathryn C. Murray

Happy Wellness Wednesday and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
In this annual celebration of Irish heritage and culture, you almost always hear about the “Luck of the Irish.” Let’s learn more about luck and how it relates to optimism.
Studies of optimists have revealed that they tend to believe the cause of a good event is permanent and universal. So rather than thinking today is their lucky day, optimists see themselves as lucky as a whole. Conversely, they believe that bad events are temporary and specific. For example, after a bad job interview, rather than concluding “all job interviews are awful,” they see it as a temporary setback (one bad interview) and an opportunity to learn and improve. Overall, optimists believe that the good will persist and touch all things and bad events are temporary and only occur under specific circumstances.
Anyone (even pessimists) can cultivate optimism. Gratitude practices, reflecting on prior successes, demonstrating compassion and empathy towards others, and viewing adversity as a challenge and opportunity to learn and grow all increase optimism. So on this St. Patrick’s Day, remember the power of optimism and that luck and good touches all things!
