Jackson Jaguars ROAR 2021-2022
January 2022
Jackson Families,
Happy New Year to each and everyone of you! I hope you and your family had a memorable, HEALTHY, and safe holiday season! I hope that 2022 brings prosperity and joy!
COVID-19
As you may know, the numbers of COVID-19 cases have risen drastically over the past few weeks. Given the number of vaccinations and boosters available for ages 5+, District 11 will be following the guidelines set by the CDC. Please refer to the District 11 Return to Learn website to answer any and all questions you may have, regarding COVID-19 guidelines. https://www.d11.org/domain/5173
It is more important now than ever to keep your child(ren) home if they have any cold-like symptoms. Please call the office each day your child(ren) is out sick at (719) 328-5800.
Cold Weather (Inclement Weather Policy)
The cold weather is coming! Please write your child's name in their coats/jackets. Every year we end up with many coats/jackets not claimed. We go out for recess at 18 degrees and above. On cold days, we ask all students to take their coats/jackets outside even if they don't want to wear them, just in case they need them. So, please remind your child(ren) to bring a coat/jacket to school during cold months.
As always, if you still have some questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Thank you,
Sara Miller

Wish for Wheels
On Tuesday, December 14th a truck with 53 bicycles pulled into the back lot at Jackson. A team of volunteers from SRAM came to help adjust bike seats and helmets for students. (SRAM’s Colorado facility is the home of RockShox. Their website indicates, "much of the brake and suspension development teams work in the (Colorado Springs) office where gravity is primary to product development and testing.") The students and staff were excited beyond belief, and the weather was impeccable! Watching the students receive their bikes against the backdrop of Pikes Peak was nothing short of miraculous! I think the pictures speak for themselves.
Counseling Corner with Mrs. Ruiz
We continue to work on emotional regulation strategies here at school. Many of you have asked, what can I do when my child is anxious or has a meltdown at home? Here are 2 great graphics with suggestions:
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need anything.
Please feel free to send me a dojo message, call me, or email me at leslie.ruiz@d11.org with any questions.

Winter Break Book Giveaway
We hope your children are enjoying the books they were able to select from the Book Giveaway in December. The students had a great time choosing two books to take home.
Having books available to read in the home is one of the indicators for reading success with all students – so keep on reading!

Box Tops for Education (BTFE)
Dear Jackson Families,
I just wanted to remind everyone of our efforts to use Box Tops for Education for extra money for our school.
BTFE has been phasing out the original way of clipping the logo off any
participating products and they now prefer everyone using the QR code (below) that you need to download onto your phone.
It is very simple to use. Simply download the App by using the QR Code provided here. You follow the directions to connect it to our school. After shopping all you do is scan your receipt from the store. It will immediately credit each item to our school!
Thanks for helping your school!
