Welcome Back to Millstone PS!

Principal's Update - September 2022

Kicking off a great school year!

Millstone Primary School friends and families,

First, I sincerely hope everyone is enjoying a restful summer and finding time to cross adventures off of your bucket lists. I cannot wait to hear about all of the fun trips, pool days, and good books that were enjoyed these past seven weeks. The Baker family has been soaking up the sun on the beaches and ball fields, all while making sure we get lost in a book each day. The slower pace, the endless Vitamin D, and ideal weather make summer the perfect time to recharge our batteries.

During the 2022-2023 school year, the Primary School will continue to provide quality, personalized instruction in each classroom, along with a strong commitment to inclusivity. As always, empathy and kindness are the foundation for all learning and will continue to drive every interaction between our students and their teachers. Academically, you will hear much about Reading and Writing Workshop, Fundations, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) instruction, digital tools to support instruction, and a keen awareness of social and emotional learning. Finally, there have been significant improvements to the safety and security of the building which will allow our students, staff, and visitors to be comfortable when on our campus. We look forward to sharing more about our program at Back to School Night on Thursday, September 8th.

Communication between home and school is a necessary ingredient for a successful school year. Open, regular, and solution-oriented conversations between parents, students, teachers, and administration will continue to be the expectation. We look forward to sharing information with you throughout the year about the academic, social, and emotional growth of your child. In addition, our parent-student handbook which provides important information about our school’s philosophy, procedures, and policies is accessible on our website (ps.millstone.k12.nj.us). I encourage you to follow us on Twitter @p_baker114 for information and exciting happenings in our school!

The Primary School community and I look forward to another great year. I look forward to seeing a school full of smiling faces on September 6th!

Your friend,

Dr. Baker
