December 5-14: End of Course Exams
December 15-16: Q2/S1 Final Exams
January 5: Q3/S2 Begins
January 12: Spring Semester Parent Information Night
Final Exams (Q2/S1)
PRHS final exams are half days due to the importance of the assessments and to provide students with ample studying time. Students will arrive at school during regular hours, but they will leave at 11:20. The busses will take them home at this time. Also, we do not serve lunch on these days.
Exams cannot be taken early. If a student must miss an exam, please schedule a time to make up the exam with their teacher before you leave for Winter Break.
Thursday, 12/15
7:10-9:10: 1st block exam
9:10-9:20: Class Change
9:20-11:20: 2nd block exam
Friday, 12/16
7:10-9:10: 3rd block exam
9:10-9:20: Class Change
9:20-11:20: 4th block exam
Students should bring their GCPS issued Chromebook fully charged for final exams on Thursday and Friday. Since every student has been issued a Chromebook, students can not rely on Peachtree Ridge having extra Chromebooks for use during final exams. If your student has a damaged or lost Chromebook, please direct them to the Media Center for Chromebook support. Please see below, for information about Q2/S1 final exams and next week's schedule.
Finals for Grayson Maxwell Students
12/15 (1st/2nd Exams)
- AM Maxwell/Grayson students will go to their school, as a regular day. If they ride a bus to Maxwell, and home, they should report to the Media Center when they return to PRHS and wait for the buses at 11:20. Students that drive to Maxwell/Grayson may go home directly from their school; there is no reason to report back to PRHS.
- PM Maxwell/Grayson students will not report to their school. They will test at PRHS in the morning and go home after the 11:20 bell rings.
12/16 (3rd/4th Exams)
- AM Maxwell/Grayson students will test at PRHS and go home when the 11:20 bell rings. They will NOT go to Maxwell/Grayson that day.
- PM Maxwell/Grayson students will stay home that day, there is no reason for them to come to school as we will be testing 3rd/4th blocks at PRHS. Any PM Maxwell/Grayson student that reports to PRHS will need to stay in the Media Center for the day. If a student drives to either Maxwell/Grayson and they choose to go to school on Friday, they may but the schools are not expecting them as transportation is an issue for most students.
Quarter 2 Grades
Grades for GCPS Semester 1/Quarter 2 Final Exams, and EOC Assessments will be finalized in January upon return from Winter break. When scores for these assessments are available, teachers will enter them, and the grades will be visible in ParentVUE and StudentVUE. As a result, final course grades for fall semester for students enrolled in high school will be finalized by Tuesday, January 10th. You may need to toggle your Parent Portal Gradebook to see your student's Q2 grades.
Quarter 3
Quarter 3/Semester 2 will begin on Thursday, January 5th when we return from Winter Break.
Student schedules will be released the evening of Tuesday, Jan 3rd. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to make changes for spring courses as we do not have open seats in most of our elective courses.
If there is an error in your student's schedule, please email Lynne Best with your student's name, student number, and the course that is creating the error.
The following reasons are considered errors:
- A student is in a class that they have already passed.
- A student is in a class with the same teacher and the same course that they have previously failed.
- A student has not met the prerequisites for the elective course.
- A student does not have a full schedule, or they have too many courses.

Peachtree Ridge High School has implemented several Credit Recovery (CR) sessions for our students. Ridge Recovery is a face-to-face program for students who did not pass a class with a final grade between 50%-69% for courses offered. Ridge Recovery does not meet the minimum academic standards that NCAA requires and is, thus, NOT recognized for eligibility purposes. Prospective college athletes should NOT take Credit Recovery courses. Session 2 sign-ups will open on My Payments Plus on December 15th. Junior Graduation Requirement: Parent Action Needed
As recently communicated by Gwinnett County Public Schools, our Board of Education adopted a new Post-Secondary Readiness policy (which replaces the current Gateway Graduation Test requirement with two options). The SAT for All option is a great opportunity for students as it is held during a school day, has no cost, and will be offered in the Spring. The Counseling Office recommends junior students start taking college admission tests in the Spring if they are interested in attending a college or a university after graduation, and this opportunity gives students both an SAT score and satisfies the graduation requirement.
Current 11th graders will need to choose one of the two options below to satisfy their graduation requirement, by DECEMEBER 16th.
Option 1: SAT for All - Wednesday, March 22, 2023
Option 2: Gateway Writing Assessment in U.S. History - Monday, March 27, 2023
If you do not "Opt In" for your student to participate in the SAT for All, they will be registered for the Gateway Writing Assessment in U.S. History.
Please contact your junior's counselor if you have any questions or need help signing up.

A Delicious Way to Support the PRHS Band Program: Honey Baked Ham Gift Cards and E-Gift Cards
Our kids LOVE to play music at PRHS. Our program receives 20% of every gift card or e-gift card purchase at Honey Baked Ham. Your support allows us to be successful as student musicians by helping us to maintain instruments, purchase new music, purchase band equipment and so much more. Without you, we wouldn't be able to challenge our students and take them to the next level in their music career as well help us to continue to build an amazing program that your student will talk about for years to come.
If you would like to see our student musicians in action, join us for our Band Concert on November 17th or our Fine Arts Showcase on December 8th and 9th in the high school theater.
Please feel free to share this link with anyone...friends, family, neighbors, co-workers and anyone who loves Honey Baked Ham for the holidays. Know that your support is appreciated. Thank you for your generosity.

Chromebook Updates
It is important for students to keep their Chromebooks up-to-date. This can happen automatically if Chromebooks are used often for periods of time, but students can manually update a Chromebook with these directions.
Word of the Month: Social Media
Social Media is websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. The internet is a very informative place, but also a very dangerous place if you student is sharing personal information with strangers who may misrepresent themselves. It is important to talk to your kids about online predators.
