November Student Spartan Awards
Congratulations to George Moulton, Aviah Fraere, Elizabeth Schmeling, Emerson Medici and Deanna Ormonde on being nominated for a “Student Spartan Award.” Students are recognized by teachers and staff for their involvement with something positive for the school culture and community. Keep up the amazing work and continue to be outstanding Scituate Spartans in and out of the classroom!

Tulip Planting in the SHS Rotary
Girl Scouts
Thank you to the Girl Scouts who planted the 100 tulip bulbs in the rotary garden! They are from Troops 53, 221 and 136.
From Culinary
Mrs. Morton received a grant from King Arthur Baking Company through their Bake for Good program. Enough flour and yeast was donated for culinary students to prepare bread to donate to families in the community as well as enjoy a loaf with their families.
Senior Project
As part of his senior project, Dylan Johnson helped lead the Introduction to Sports Medicine class by setting up mock physical therapy simulations.
From Art
Academy of Biomedical Science
Students in Medical Interventions class are studying the effects of bacterial conjugation on antibiotic immunity. Here they are streaking their plates with 2 strains of E. Coli. These colonies will then be incubated for 24 hours and inspected next class.
Human Body Systems
Students enrolled in Human Body Systems have learned to use a gonimeter in order to diagnose possible issues with the proper function of a joint. By collecting data on the range of motion, students model the events a patient and physical therapist would engage in.
Secretary of State Amore Visits SHS
US History I students received a visit from Rhode Island Secretary of State Gregg Amore! Mr. Amore talked to students about the history of voting rights, and why it's so important to vote.
From Science
Biology Honors - Early Entollment are studying the effects of hypotonic, hypertonic and isotonic solutions on plants cells in order to learn more about osmosis and the factros influencing this process.
S in STEAM
Students enrolled in S in STEAM have been learning about the role plastic plays in our environment. Not all plastic or metal can be recycled so students turned what would be thrown away into art!

The Scituate Broadcasting Club
After School Academic Support at SHS
Scituate High School is hosting an After School Academic Support Center for ELA and Math beginning next week. Ms. Antonelli will stay after school for ELA each Tuesday beginning October 17th, and Mr. Soucar will be available for Math each Thursday beginning October 19th. Sessions will run from 2:20-3:20, and late buses will be available. During this time students can get extra support while completing class assignments and homework. We hope students will take advantage of this opportunity to get the additional time or help they need to be successful!

REMINDER
Important Message to Parents with Adolescents in 12th Grade
All children entering 12th grade are required to be up-to-date on their immunizations and submit a current physical exam to the school.
RI Department of Health Physical Exam Requirements
The examination may be conducted in the twelve (12) months preceding the date of school entry, but if not, it shall be completed within six (6) months of school entry.

RI Department of Health Immunization Requirements
All adolescents entering 12th grade are required to have the following immunizations in addition to Kindergarten and 7-9th grade immunization requirements:
One (1) dose of Meningococcal Conjugate (Meningitis) vaccine booster
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine (*Total of three (3) doses, or two (2) doses if series started at age 14 or younger)

Winter Athletic Registration

The Winter Season is about to get underway. All sports have a start date of Monday
November 27th 2023. In order to participate, ALL students MUST have a current
physical ( NO EXCEPTIONS), MUST be registered on the school Website, and
MUST be in good academic standing from the 1st quarter of this school year.

Save the Date!
Are you ready for winter sports? We are! Join us December 1st for our very own WINTER MADNESS pep rally! We will introduce the high school winter sports teams, live DJ, shooting contests, raffles and there will be food trucks parked in the circle out front with fun snacks and food to purchase! We are super excited to be partnering with the athletic department for this first annual event! ALSO we will be unveiling all of the new updated championship banners in the gym! It’s been a long time coming (thanks Covid) but we finally have all of our teams and athletes on their respective banners and can’t wait to show you! Alumni of course are welcome! Wear your SPARTAN BLUE and show up loud and proud.
