Message from the Principal
Whispering Pines Families,
We had a successful first STAAR testing week and we are moving into our last 10 days of school! Thank you for your support and encouragement this year as our teachers and staff have had to navigate between learning platforms and constant changes.
Please review our upcoming end of year events:
Grade Level Picnics- all virtual students are invited to attend. Please check in at the front office and we will direct you to the correct place. If you are planning to take your child home after the picnic please check them out with their teacher. Please limit visitors to a max of three guests because although we are outside we would like to keep it as small as possible. Teachers will be sending out the information specific to your child's picnic.
Chromebooks Return- all Chromebooks that have gone home with students must be returned the last week of school. These Chromebooks will be cleaned and updated. If you are continuing in the virtual environment you will be assigned a computer later in the summer.
5th Grade Celebration- 5th Grade parents please come to the outdoor End of Year Celebration for our 5th graders moving on to middle school. Bring your lawn chair and sunglasses and we can send them on with a fun encouraging event. The award ceremony will last from 30-45 minutes and then the 5th grade students will have pizza and one last recess time with their classmates. We are unable to accommodate families with the pizza and please remember that siblings are great but not a good idea for the picnic as they will be unable to play on the equipment with all of our large 5th graders.
End of Year Conferences We are looking forward to seeing all of our parents for our End of Year conferences. You will find out how much progress your child has made to the grade level goals and ways to support their learning over the summer. Please attend!
Library Book Returns- Last year we lost 800 library books that were not returned by students. We want to recover all of our checked-out books this year or even books from last year if you find any under beds or in old back packs. Please see the incentives we are providing students to bring back their books. Thank you for your support! CHECK IT OUT
Panda Proud!

Humble ISD has made the decision to collect all Chromebooks and other borrowed technology from all students/families before the end of the 2020-2021 school year regardless of the instructional plan you have for your child for the next school year. We ask that if you borrowed a Chromebook from WPE for your student's virtual learning that you return the device/charger during the end of year class picnic for your students grade level. When you arrive at the front office to check in there will be a staff member collecting Chromebooks and chargers to make the process easier for you. If you nor your virtual student are attending the picnic we request that you still make use of the times listed below to return the borrowed items.

5th Grade End of year Award and Picnic
We will be celebrating our 5th grade online and face to face learners in a EOY picnic and award ceremony. Parents are invited to attend. Bring your lawn chair since the celebration will be outside.12:00-1:30pm on Thursday, May 27th. For the student celebration we will have inflatables and pizza for the students. Younger siblings are wonderful but not a good idea since they will not be able to play with the big kids on the equipment. The awards Ceremony will last about 30-45 minutes. Parents that want to check out their child will be required to sign them out either with a teacher or in the front office.
Manner's Banquet for 5th Grade Students
Despite the challenges of COVID we feel it is important to continue with our important grade level or campus events such as Super Kids Day and Manner's Banquet. The students remember these special events for years. Manner's Banquet marks the end of your child's time in elementary school as they move into middle and high school. We will be adjusting this event to meet the district and state guidelines.
- Face to Face learners will be seated at a table with their classrooms which we call 'school families'.
- Servers will be limited to school personnel.
- Any entertainment or speakers will be WPE staff or students
- Virtual students will be invited to attend, please be on the lookout for information from your teacher about how to sign up your child that is in the virtual setting for the event.
End of Year Conferences
Please attend your child's End of Year conference. We want to discuss progress and team with you for summer learning. NO SUMMER SLIDE!!

Positive Affirmation of the Week
Activity for Parent and Student: What’s the benefit of children learning to believe in themselves? You can start by being more optimistic by using this simple little phrase, “You don’t know how to do that yet,” more often.
Children who believe in themselves are able to learn more.
They’ll work harder.
They’re willing to struggle longer with a difficult problem.
Kids who believe in themselves are easier to motivate.
They gain self-confidence

New Face Mask Policy as of 4-22-21
On April 22, 2021, the Board of Trustees of Humble ISD voted to update the District’s face covering protocols. The updated protocols make face coverings optional for all elementary school students. Prior to the update, masks were optional for students under 10 and required for students 10 and older. The update protocols also make face coverings optional for participants at an outdoor event or activity. Outdoor events and activities include recess, outdoor PE, senior picnics, or any other outdoors event or activity.
The updated policy is effective immediately:
Every student, teacher, staff member, and visitor shall wear a mask or face shield over the nose and mouth when on school district property or at a district event wherever it is not feasible to maintain six feet of social distancing from another person not in the same household; provided, however, that this mask requirement does not apply to the following:
- Any elementary school student; (updated April 22, 2021)
- Any person with a medical condition or disability that prevents wearing a mask;
- Any person while the person is consuming food or drink, or is seated in a dining area to eat or drink;
- Any person while the person is actively exercising or engaging in physical activity;
- Any spectator or participant at an outdoor event or activity; (updated April 22, 2021)
- Any person while the person is giving a speech for a broadcast or to an audience; or
- Any student while actively participating in an activity where it is impractical to wear a mask or face shield.
