The holiday season is upon us, so there's no better time to support RCHS, and you can do so at no extra cost to your wallet.
If you have a Food City Value Card, you can earn RCHS money while you shop. All you need to do is sign into your Food City account on their website, go to Account, click Update School, and select Rhea County High School. Then any money you spend at Food City also earns money for RCHS.
If you have done this in the past, we cannot thank you enough, but we still need your help. Each year, you have to re-update your school to let Food City know that you still support us.
Food City is donating $800,000 to Tennessee schools, and the more points you can help us earn, the bigger piece of that pie we can get.
Follow the simple directions on the flier above to get your card linked today!

The RCHS Criminal Justice classes participated in a mock trial crime scene enacted by the Theatre Arts Department. Criminal Justice has been covering evidence collection and crime scene processing throughout the year. Students were assisted by members of the Rhea County Sheriff's Department. Detectives and deputies helped students properly identify and collect evidence, while they also demonstrated how to speak with witnesses and suspects. Awesome job to the Criminal Justice Department, Theatre Arts Department, and Rhea County Sheriff's Department!

Creative Writing 📜✏️
National Novel Writing Month began in 1999. The challenge is to write 50,000 words of a novel in thirty days. Each year on November 1st, hundreds of thousands of people around the world write in hopes to end the month with a first draft. Students in Mrs. Canestrari's Creative Writing Class step up to the challenge to complete 50,000 words of their very own novel!

Spanish 2 Project: "El Día de los Muertos" or The Day of the Dead 💀🌸
Mrs. Worthington's Honors Spanish 2 classes learned about the Hispanic tradition of making "Ofrendas" to honor ancestors who have passed away. The holiday is celebrated on the first of November to honor children who have passed, and the second of November is celebrated to honor the adults who have passed.
They were honored by setting up a table that reflected the lives of those who have gone before us. There are 15 essentials that are commonly found on these "Ofrendas," including marigolds, pictures of the honored person(s), items they enjoyed while on earth, favorite foods and drinks, salt, water, candles, Bibles, etc.
Each class divided into teams of four to create an "Ofrenda," and they competed against each other. They were allowed to choose someone in their family or a famous person they admired. Once the groups were finished, the other Spanish teachers voted to choose the best "Ofrenda."
I (Mrs. Worthington) believe the experience helped students understand more of the Hispanic culture, and it helped with collaborative learning skills, such as dividing responsibilities, cooperative decision- making, list- making, and working together. Plus, it was a lot of fun!
