All About Me

My first year in Anna

When I first moved here back in 2013, I was worried about everything. I didn't know anyone and I didn't know anything. I didn't have any friends until 6th grade, a year after I moved. It took a while to get used to things like the new people, the new school, everything. But from the challenges of moving to a completely new place, came even better things than Arlington. I made new friends, I found a passion for something that I'd never even thought of before the move, I met new people, I tried more things, and the best part of all, I overcame my fear of getting into another serious accident like the one when I was 7...

In 2010, my old friends were jumping a small ramp on their bikes in between two cinder-block walls they had put together. Of course, being me, I wanted to get in on the fun too. I got my yellow and black $500 bicycle that my father had given to me as a gift when I turned 6, and took it up the 100 meter long hill. When I got to the top, I got onto my bike and began my ride down. About 20 yards away from the ramp, I heard everyone yelling and saw them waving their arms like thin tree limbs blown around in the wind. When I was 5 yards away I heard what they were saying, "NO!" but by then it was too late, I attempted to veer off but i hit the edge of the blocks and was launched off my bike into a parked car. The impact was so hard, that it knocked me out immediately.

I suffered many broken bones, a major concussion, and a fear of bikes from that stupid decision, and that fear stayed with me for most of my life. But from much therapy I got rid of that fear. Anyways, that's one story from my life.

Why this poem suits me

I think this poem suits me because I hate giving up. People tell me to give up every day but no matter what it is, I'll always be determined to finish it.
Never give up , believe in yourself

A place I've been that Impacted me

In December 1835, during Texas’ war for independence from Mexico, a group of Texan volunteer soldiers occupied the Alamo, a former Franciscan mission located near the present-day city of San Antonio. On February 23, 1836, a Mexican force numbering in the thousands and led by General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna began a siege of the fort. Though vastly outnumbered, the Alamo’s 200 defenders–commanded by James Bowie and William Travis and including the famed frontiersman Davy Crockett–held out courageously for 13 days before the Mexican invaders finally overpowered them. For Texans, the Battle of the Alamo became an enduring symbol of their heroic resistance to oppression and their struggle for independence, which they won later that year.
