La Vernia Primary Library ~ BEAR BOOKS & LIBRARY LOOKS
Our Library opens every morning at 7:30 for "passes" time. Any student who needs to return books and check out new ones is welcome.
Our sweet little Pre-K students are now checking out great books to take home and read with their moms and dads. What an exciting time! We hope all parents take time to read library books at home with children. PreK and Kinder students check out one book and First/Second Graders check out two books each visit to the Library.

“There's no such thing as a kid who hates reading. There are kids who love reading, and kids who are reading the wrong books.” -James Patterson
GREAT NEW BOOKS FOR 2022!
The Primary Campus is very fortunate in that our Administration puts great value in our Library and making sure our students have fantastic new; relevant books to read each year. Our book purchases are based on student wishes, teacher requests, award winner lists, and book review journal suggestions. Our latest book order is now ready to go and we cannot wait for students, teachers (any campus), parents, and community members to check out these amazing titles! We have many new fiction and nonfiction books to support patron interests. Thanks so much to LVISD for its continued support of our Library.
SCHLITTERBAHN WAVES OF PAGES ~ Reading FUN!
MERRY MAKERS ~ MAKERSPACES in the Library
It might look a lot like "play" but our students learn wonderful lessons about and with collaboration, creativity, production, sharing, dreaming, imagination, design, building concepts, connecting, coding, and problem solving.
Intermediate Library News
Digital Badges have become a popular way to show accomplishments, skills learned, and progress toward personal goals. (I am personally OBSESSED earning digital badges on my iWatch, Peloton, as well as earning technology badges here at school.) Although our students have limited access to technology outside of school, through educational websites, such as EPIC! Book for Kids, we have seen students interest in earning digital badges soar.
We hope to encourage our students to be the best they can be! We showcase students who complete goals on our #LVISDREADS LEADER BOARD outside on the library wall. Students can choose a goal they wish to complete (Schlitterbahn Waves of Pages, any various reading challenges etc.) and their picture will be featured on our leader board for the rest of the year. Readers are leaders!
Best Day Book Donations/Dedications are gladly accepted in our libraries.
La Vernia Intermediate Libraries would like to honor your child with a book dedication. For each book donation, students will choose an age appropriate book from the current student-generated Amazon wish list: LaVernia Intermediate Library Wish List They will receive a book plate with a digital image honoring them for the lifetime of the book. Book plates will state the name of the student, date, and dedication occasion. (Ex. “Happy Birthday”, “Congratulations for making all As”, or books in honor/memorial.)
If you are interested in making a book donation, please contact Paula Watson at (830) 779-6640, ext. 4233. Digital pictures can be emailed to paula.watson@lvisd.org.
