Meet Kelsey - Visiting Therapy Dog for Nixon School
Kelsey, mini bernadoodle, will join in at Nixon School one time a week and be present for social and emotional learning for children. We have learned of the strength of having a therapy dog at school through the tremendous success of Sophie at the Noyes Elementary School. Kelsey will be accompanied by her experienced handler, Candy Mandell and Maureen Acton while visiting Nixon School.
As we begin this program, Kelsey will be spending time with a selected group of children. These gentle visits will be shorter in duration and give Kelsey and our children an opportunity to get to know each other. For some children at Nixon School, specific time with Kelsey will a bit longer based on the needs of social and emotional care at that time. As this program develops there will be increased opportunities for other children at Nixon School.
We welcome this sweet girl to our Nixon community!
Please see the link for the Nixon School Therapy Dog FAQ. As Kelsey visits the schoolhouse and travels through the halls she may cross paths with many different students. If you do not want your child to have any contact with Kelsey or you have questions, please reach out to Maureen Acton (maureen_acton@sudbury.k12.ma.us) and/or Susan Woods (susan_woods@sudbury.k12.ma.us).

Medication Pick Up
The school year is quickly coming to a close. If you have brought any cold medicine, allergy medication, eye drops, inhalers, epi pens or other medications to the health office during the past school year those items need to be picked up by a parent or guardian. Please be sure to pick up all medications that have been brought to the health office by 2:00 a.m. Friday, June 17th, as they cannot be stored at school over the summer. Any medication remaining at school after that time will be disposed of.
It may be concerning to pick up your child’s epi pen and/or inhaler prior to the 21st. The health office has on supply both a stock albuterol inhaler and epi pen in the health office should your child need these medications in the last few days of school.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter. Have a great summer!

All-School Dance Party - June 10th!
To achieve our all-school dance party experience children are asked to participate in an act of acceptance within the school house. Each moment of noted acceptance will be represented by a pom-pom ball and placed into a jar. Each class is to have 100 moments of acceptance collected in their classroom jar by June 9th.
The goal is for children to attend to and demonstrate acts of acceptance independently and with peers and be noticed and admired for their act of equity and inclusion of others.
We are very excited to have this experience and are even more pleased that this event was developed from our Student Advisory Council!
