Inglewood Primary School
NEWSLETTER No 24 - 16 August 2018
Our Mission:
Learning to think, to do, to be
Ako ki te whakaaro, ako ki te mahi, ako kia ora ai te mauri
Our Vision: To provide a teaching and learning environment where of those involved: demonstrate respect, expect the best, achieve through opportunity, communicate actively & feel good and safe
Thank you
We would like to thank all students, parents/whanau and wider community for your support around the Nationwide Teachers' Strike.
The decision was not made lightly as we, as Teachers, together, with the Board of Trustees endeavour to 'Do the right thing' for all our tamariki/children and whanau/families.
We appreciate the disruption a strike causes for everyone. Our aim as educators is to provide ALL of our learners the best possible conditions in which to learn. It is increasingly evident the nature of 'teaching' has changed, as more and more the role of the teacher is being stretched and challenged.
We do hope the negotiations will be favourable for all moving forward, without further disruptions.
Thank you again.
Gratitude
I have not been to Christchurch, post the 2011 earthquake, so I found the sights, at times sombering.
I am grateful that we have not experienced such devastation here in Taranaki. The challenges that the community of Christchurch have faced over the time, have tested their resilience and tenacity over the years.
We visited several schools in mixed stages of repair or rebuild and had some very thought provoking conversations as a result.
I came back, being very grateful to being a member of the Inglewood Primary School and wider community.
While I found some interesting new ideas and some solutions to a few things as educators we have been quietly working on here at IPS, there was no hiding from the resounding sense of pride I felt around what we are trying to achieve here at IPS.
The trip affirmed to me what I always knew... I love being an educator here, so thank you all for assisting IPS to be a fantastic place to learn in and be a part of.

REACH in the Community
Cooper Mullins in Moa iti heard about the big Superman being stolen from the Children's Ward at Taranaki Base Hospital recently and said to his Mum "That is really sad. Do you think they would like my Spiderman?" Cooper took his very own Spiderman up to the Children's Ward and donated it to them. I bet this made a lot of sick children in the hospital very happy. Well done Cooper for thinking of others and bringing them so much Hauora.
