Back to School Bash

We had a great time at our Back to School Bash on Thursday, September 11th! Students and parents enjoyed visiting their classrooms, eating s'mores, and playing putt putt golf. Our PTO does an amazing job in coordinating fun, family-centered school events throughout the school year. We hope everyone enjoyed our open house!

Ava Prince - TCAP Perfect Score!

Fifth Consolidated is proud to recognize and congratulate Ava Prince for making a perfect score on the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program

(TCAP) - Math portion!

"As a school, we are so proud of the accomplishments of our students on the TNReady assessment. We are honored to recognize Ava Prince, from Mrs. Magen Purvis' 4th-grade class, for earning a perfect score on the TCAP Math Assessment. Ava consistently works hard and is truly dedicated to succeeding academically, and this honor further proves her commitment. The partnership between our highly motivated student body and our compassionate faculty and staff continues to result in academic excellence at Fifth Consolidated." - Mrs. Lou Ann Peery, Principal.

The Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) is designed to assess true student understanding, not just basic memorization and test-taking skills. It is a way to assess what our students know and what we can do to help them succeed in the future.

"I love school," stated Ava Prince, 5th-grade student at FCES. "I think one of the reasons I have excelled in math is because it is my favorite subject. I am just so happy that I got this award. I would like to thank the teachers and the school."

"We are always proud of Ava's accomplishments, but we are extremely proud of this academic achievement. We are grateful for the nurturing staff at Fifth Consolidated Elementary School." - Jarrod and Nikki Prince, Ava Prince's parents.

Spirit Day!

Some of the DCHS football players, band members, and cheerleaders helped greet our students last Friday morning to celebrate hosting the first home football game of the season. It was great to see all of our students in their orange and white! Go Choctaws!

~ School Information & Updates ~

Under Construction...

Construction to add on the new wing of the school will begin soon! This will be an ongoing project all school year. This may cause slight disruptions to traffic flow on that side of our building. We will try to provide updates as quickly as possible if traffic is impacted.

In order to keep the construction area clear of any unnecessary traffic during the day, we will be adding some traffic cones near the Pre-K area to limit traffic flow around the building until 2:30pm each afternoon. This will begin next week and will remain in place throughout the school year. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this project!

FCES Library

We have recently been doing some updates in our school library in order to make it more student-centered. Updates so far have included new flooring, mural paintings and new flex seating for our students. Our library project is not yet complete, but our students have loved the changes we have made so far! Stay tuned for more updates!

School Attendance

Why does attendance matter? Every school day counts in a child's academic life. A missed school day is a lost opportunity for students to learn. Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance. This relationship between attendance and achievement may appear early in a child's school career. A recent study looking at young children found that absenteeism in kindergarten was associated with negative first grade outcomes such as greater absenteeism in subsequent years and lower achievement in reading, math, and general knowledge.

Please look over the chart below showing the impact of absenteeism on lost instructional time. We value instructional time for our students and encourage parents to make all attempts to have their child at school each day. Please remember to send a doctor's note if your child must be absent from school due to illness. Thank you for partnering with us to help your child be successful academically.
