On Wednesday evening, I sent out an invitation to sign up for parent teacher conferences. If you are unable to meet at one of those times please contact me to make other arrangements. I look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child's progress. If possible, I would like for your child to be there so that he or she can help lead you through data binders and part of our conference.

Veteran's Day Assembly

We will be hosting a Veteran's Day Assembly on Friday, November 11th at 9:00 am in the Price gym. We would like to invite all Price family members who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces. We also ask that you submit a picture of your child's serviceman or woman. This can be scanned and e-mailed to or sent in your child's backpack. If sending a physical picture, Megan in the front office will scan this image and return it to your child. These images will be used in our assembly slideshow. We look forward to seeing your family at this assembly and would thank all of those who have so selflessly served our country.

The 2016 Major Saver Discount Card campaign launches in the Republic School District on Wednesday, October 19th & Thursday, October 20th. The cost is $15 and provides 19 discount offers. Proceeds will benefit our Early Childhood Center, all elementary buildings, the Republic Middle School and the Republic Community Foundation. Please consider purchasing a Major Saver card from a Republic student or via the Major Saver app now through November 1.

Price Families, we are excited to announce that the month of October is safety month in our school. We will be focusing on many ways to help teach kids to be safe. During this month we will have special guest visitors from the Red Cross, the Republic Fire Department, and the Republic Police Department. Students are able to learn different ways they can stay safe at school and at home. To finish out our month of safety we will have a spirit week to celebrate what we know. Click on the image to the right to see the spirit week schedule. Be sure to talk with your student all about the safety tips they have learned so far!

A student flu vaccine clinic will be offered by Jordan Valley Community Health Center to ALL students in the Republic R-III School District. They will be at Price on October 27th. This is available to ALL students, regardless of income or insurance status. A consent form must be completed for your child to receive the flu vaccine. The vaccine that will be given this year is the inactivated influenza shot. Unfortunately, the nasal mist is not available. You may request a consent form from the school nurse.

On Friday, November 18, Price will have their 3-5 grade music showcase. A permission slip will be in your child's mail today. Please read it, fill it out, and return it to school as soon as possible. The first class to have all forms turned in will earn a popcorn party from Mrs. Pipkin.

Price will be having a Fall Box Top Challenge from Oct. 3 - Oct. 18. A note went home earlier this week with all the details. When you send in your box tops, please remember to check the expiration date and put them in a baggie or envelope with your child's name and his or her teacher's name. The class that collects the most will earn a donut party!

All 2nd through 5th grade students will have a vision screening on October 25, 2016. Missouri State University staff and students from the Citizenship & Service-Learning Department will provide these high-tech vision screenings. These college students are working on majors like biomedical sciences, nursing, pre-med, pre-optometry and social work. Please contact the school nurse if you wish to opt out of this program.

Family "FUN"damentals Night - Save the Date

We are excited to announce our next Family "Fun"damentals Night on Friday, November 18th from 5:30-6:45. The sessions will take place before the 3rd-5th grade musical, which will begin at 7:00. At our Family "Fun"damentals Fiesta in September, we collected feedback from families regarding future topics of interest, and the top two chosen were behavior management and social skills. This time, presenters will be sharing about how our school targets these two areas, as well as ideas for a wide range of behavior and personality types. This information will be meaningful for ALL participants, not just families of students with difficulties in these areas. Hamburgers, chips, and drinks will be served for free while supplies last; however, donations will be accepted. Childcare will be provided for children ages 4 and up during the sessions. Please use the following link to RSVP for this event by Monday, November 7th. We hope to see you there!

Keep working on those multiplication facts! A LOT of what we do in 5th grade math requires multiplication. If they are fluent with these facts, it will help avoid frustration with some of the new skills they will be learning. I have put several links to multiplication games on Google Classroom so that students can practice at home.
