Meet Ms. Laughlin - Principal

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year!

It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter to introduce myself as the new principal of King Science and Technology Magnet Center. I hope that this note finds you healthy and well. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with an extremely dedicated staff and a supportive school community.

I have been dedicated to the field of education for 21 years in a variety of roles. I began my teaching career at Beveridge Middle School teaching 7th and 8th grade Language Arts and gifted programming. I then served as a Curriculum Specialist and Freshman Academy leader at Benson High School. I am thrilled to return to the middle level in the role of principal at KSTM and to work with families, staff, and community partners to ensure a safe and secure environment for students to learn and excel. The staff are proud of our beautiful school and the unique programming offerings at KSTM. We strive to make connections with our students to help them feel valued, accepted, and safe.

I view education as a life-long process and expect that I will continue to learn much about the uniqueness of our community this year and in the years to come. Most importantly, I bring a belief that students are at the center of all school-related decisions. I am excited to unite my experience, my openness to learn, and my child-centered approach to support our students. Because the relationships between families and school staff are vital to the success of our students, I encourage you to become involved in every way possible. As the principal, I look forward to working with you to make this year a fabulous year.
