October 26, 2018 | Discover How New Ideas Can Make A Difference
Dear Nazareth Faculty and Staff,
You are invited to participate in the Nazareth College Social Innovation Hack-A-Thon by inviting your students to attend, scheduling your class to attend, and/or incorporating the event into your course or department activities. We are very excited to provide this experiential introduction to the concept of Social Innovation providing our students with opportunities to learn and then test out some of their skills with the support of community innovators and Nazareth faculty and staff.
Social innovation (SI) is a growing field expanding across colleges, universities, and organizations nationwide. At Nazareth, SI can provide a platform for students to learn with faculty, staff, and community partners in order to develop ideas on how to solve some of the world's greatest challenges. These challenges include poverty, diversity and inclusion, environment and climate change, health care, peace and human rights, and education. Through SI, students can gain the knowledge, skills and humility necessary to research issues, design solutions, develop assessments, partner with the community, manage teams, and launch sustainable solutions.
