Spring Parent Conferences
We look forward to making parent conferences a successful experience for all families. Various grade levels and teaching teams conduct parent conferences differently. There are many grade level teams that will conduct parent conferences with both teachers present. Other teachers will meet with their homeroom parents and provide additional academic information from their partner teacher. As always, if you have a question or concern about a report card grade, please contact your child's teacher.
The Wrentham PTO, Wrentham Cadette, and Senior Girl Scouts will be offering free babysitting on Thursday, March 21st from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vogel Auditorium. This is a fantastic service for parents to meet with teachers during evening parent conferences!

Wrentham Wildcats and Destination Imagination
Celebrating it's 20th year, Destination Imagination is chugging along and the Wrentham Wildcats are still on board. Albeit a smaller than usual number of team members are participating this year, the excitement is no less intense. Wrentham Public Schools will be sending three teams to their Regional Tournament on Saturday, March 9th, at Bellingham High School. The day long event is open to the public and spectators are always more than welcome to attend. Please join me in wishing the following teams a successful tournament!
The 7 Wonders of Wrentham - Now at the Middle School Level of Competition, this team is managed by Pam Leveroni. Team members are Tommy Daley, Ava Doggett, Aidan Kinahan, and Jack Leveroni with past WPS students, Sophia Mahen, Brooke Kennedy, and Samantha Logan. This team is riding high after their second trip to Global Finals last year, moving up three spots and on to the podium, earning 3rd place overall. This year they will be solving for the Scientific Challenge: Medical Mystery.
The Wiggley Worms - a 5th grade team of new and returning DIers is managed by Laura Milici with team members; Molly Milici, Joey Zahner, Jack Hurley, JoHanna Ragan, and with the help of Izzie Mahen who recently moved, will be solving the Technical Challenge, On Target.
The Medieval Medicate-tors - an all new DI team of 4th graders; Quinlan Greenberg, Liam Sheehan, Lucas Dolan, Bella Moriarty, and Oscar Mason, Co-managed by Diana Greenberg and Cristina Sheehan will be solving the Scientific Challenge called Medical Mystery at the Elementary level.
The Scientific Challenge requires that the teams research the human body and medical conditions which affect it. The story will have a diagnosis of a character with a "Medical Mystery". They must design and create a Sympt-O-Matic, which is a physical representation of part(s) of the anatomy of the human character experiencing the Medical Mystery and the effect of at least one Symptom on the human character’s anatomy. Then just to spice things up a bit more, the team must present part of their story in Double Vision, meaning one action or scene is shown from 2 perspectives at the same time.
The Technical Challenge, On Target has teams designing, building, taking off, flying, and landing an "aircraft". The "aircraft" must make up to 5 "payload" drops from one marked point in the presentation site to another marked point. All while the story is taking place in a "remote" location, either real or imaginary.

National Geographic GeoBee
Congratulations to Teddy Dolan who was named one of the semifinalists eligible to compete in the 2019 National Geographic GeoBee Massachusetts State Competition. The contest will be held at Elms College on Friday, March 29, 2019.
This is the second level of the National Geographic GeoBee competition, which is now in its 31st year. School GeoBees were held in schools with fourth- through eighth-grade students throughout the state to determine each school champion. School champions then took an online qualifying test, which they submitted to the National Geographic Society. The National Geographic Society has invited up to 100 of the top-scoring students in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Department of Defense Dependents Schools and U.S. territories to compete in the State GeoBees.
This year, National Geographic increased the prize money for all State GeoBees. State champions will receive a medal, $1,000 in cash, and other prizes, as well as a trip to Washington, D.C., to represent their state in the National Championship to be held at National Geographic Society headquarters, May 19-22, 2019. Students that come in second and third place will receive cash awards of $300 and $100, respectively.
Each State Champion will advance to the National Championship and compete for cash awards and college scholarships. In 2019, the national champion will receive a $25,000 college scholarship, $1,000 in cash, a lifetime membership in the National Geographic Society, and an all-expenses-paid Lindblad expedition to the Galápagos Islands aboard the National Geographic Endeavour ll; second place will receive a $10,000 college scholarship and $1,000 in cash; third place will receive a $5,000 college scholarship and $1,000 in cash; and seven runners-up will receive $1,000 in cash each. Visit www.natgeobee.org for more information on the National Geographic GeoBee.
