Message from the Principal's Desk
Greetings,
This week was quite the rollercoaster. Tuscarora High School had the honor of earning national banner recognition as a Special Olympics Unified Champion school as a result of meeting national standards of excellence in the areas of inclusion, advocacy, and respect. I am so proud of the commitment of our students, staff and community for creating a culture of care and inclusion.
However, the celebration of this achievement was overshadowed this week by the negative actions of a few students that disrupted the normal operations of Tuscarora High School. The actions of these students are not representative of our student body and appropriate consequences have been administered. I take the safety and well being of all students very seriously and I will continue to work with students, staff and the community to ensure their safety and well being while at THS. I appreciate your continued support and partnership as we teach and grow our students into young adults.
Today marks the mid-term for term one as well as Fair Day Friday. Official interims will be issued on Wednesday, October 4, however the most current student grades can be found in Schoology. As a reminder, schools are closed on Monday, so we have a four day week next week.
The following week, October 2 - 6, is Homecoming week. Monday through Friday we will have spirit days (shared below in the newsletter) and Friday will be our pep rally (please note bell schedule on page 2), parade, fangate and football game. We encourage everyone to come out and support and celebrate the Tuscarora community. The Homecoming Dance will be on Saturday, October 7 from 7:00 - 10:00 PM. It’s sure to be a fun week!
Thank you again for being a supportive and collaborative community. We will always have ups and downs, but I am thankful to work through them with you.
Sincerely,
Lisa Smith
Principal
