Principal's Weekly Bulletin
Ross Elementary School March 5, 2021
Thank you for your recent engagement and attendance at LSAT meetings regarding FY22 budgeting. The staffing model for FY22 is below. It prioritizes maintaining the fidelity of our instructional program, providing professional staff to support small groups and 1:1, along with support for our teachers in terms of coaching, planning and professional development. We will continue to offer all related arts programming including World Language, which is no longer required at the elementary level. I am eager to see our schools reopen fully and safely for in-person learning and am confident that this budget will allow all Ross students to enjoy a rich and rigorous program addressing the whole child. I cannot wait for our students to experience programming in the new attic space.
Regarding Term 4, please note that two key factors will determine if additional students will be able to join existing in-person or CARE classes. We could offer additional seats to existing classrooms if DC Health and OSSE increase the number of students allowed in each cohort and if physical social distancing requirements are reduced. This would allow our physical classroom spaces to accommodate more students. Our Term 3 plan has been fully executed and we are at full capacity in our space. We do not have any additional instructional spaces that would allow any other kinds of expansion.
DCPS has started sharing guidance regarding Summer programming for recovery acceleration planning. Ross received $50K in stimulus funds to support recovery acceleration interventions during the summer and through the next school year. The funds are primarily meant to support students who are currently not meeting academic grade level expectations. An additional LSAT meeting has been scheduled for March 18 to discuss Summer planning and beyond.
LSAT: Thursday, March 18, 5:15pm
