Principal's Newsletter

From the Desk of Ms. Clark

October 8, 2020

Dear Parents,

We are entering into our sixth week with our students learning in-person and virtually. What an incredible experience it has been to witness the daily partnership of all of those in our school community.

Grade level cohorts are attending 9am Mass during the week so we can make sure that we have safe Covid-19 protocols. The blessing that has come from this is our parishioners expressing their gratitude to be able to see the children again at Mass and also to share the Eucharistic celebration with them.

The Covid-19 protocols have brought blessings. We continue to utilize the outdoors as much as possible, using the outdoors for classroom instruction, for masks breaks, for prayer, for recess, and so much more. We are so grateful for our community and the foundation in which we educate students.

Thank you for joining us on this journey as we embrace the opportunity to serve God in nurturing the souls of His children. What we’ve learned from Covid-19 is that we can no longer take anything for granted anymore except for the love of the Father. We continue to rely on Him, turn things over to Him, and seek new ways to serve Him. Every day is a new day of challenge and of blessing. In the words of Saint Katharine Drexel, "Out of our common todays and yesterdays we are building for eternity. No thought, no work of ours ever dies. We shall meet them all again, and in the world to come shall find our gathered harvest."

God’s blessings,

Ms. Clark

Halloween Costume Day at SKD

We look forward to celebrating Halloween this year as a school community. All students in grades Pk3 to 8th will be permitted to "dress up" on Friday, October 30, 2020. Specific guidelines and instructions will be coming home soon!

Uniform Regulations

It Might Be Chilly, But That Hoodie Is Not Part of Our School Uniform.

As we begin to head into the colder months ahead, please remember that students may certainly wear any coat they like, but once they get to school, it must be removed. They can also put it on again to go to recess, but it must be removed once they get back to class. We've been noticing a creative array of hoodies, sweat jackets, and even school spirit-wear worn in the classroom and that's not in line with our uniform policy. Students are permitted to wear their SKD regulation gym uniform or the regular school uniform. The SKD gym sweatshirt or the SKD school sweater are the only shirts that are permitted to be worn over the regulation school gym or regular school shirt. We really appreciate your help, parents, in making sure that your children are dressed properly and are ready for the day!

Parent Association Stewardship 2020

Symptom Screening Tool

The attached tool must be completed each day before coming to school. All parents are primarily responsible for monitoring the health of their children. While it is our intention to remain open for the entire school year, parents are expected to do their part and keep their children home when they are sick.
