Need a Chromebook for your child? RUSD can help! New Update: All Middle School students are required to have a device!

Before you know it your 4-6 grade students will enter middle school. All 7th - 12th grade students must carry a district managed Chromebook to and from school every day. Families will have three options for this: The ECF Program (which ends this year), Checking out an RUSD Chromebook, or Adding a Managed License to a Personal Chromebook. Families can still (1) apply for their student to get a new Chromebook through the ECF program, which will last until they graduate high school, or (2) they can apply a management license to a personal Chromebook that they already own or are planning to purchase. (3) Students will also have the choice to check out a previously used device from the library. Both the ECF and Library device will stay with the student until they either graduate, move, or the device no longer works. All families will have the opportunity to purchase a Protection Plan for all RUSD/ECF Chromebooks.

Students will not be allowed to bring a personal Macbook or PC, managed personal or district devices will be the only supported devices for students.

For more information, families can go to our Technology Services Family Resource page.

All students will have to choose one of these three options:

  1. Complete an ECF application for a new device (free to the district)

  2. Check out a current RUSD Chromebook

  3. Install a Google Management License on a Personal Chromebook.

3rd-5th Grade Science Curriculum Adoption Preview

At the RUSD Board meeting last night, Wednesday, 2/15/23, the Amplify Science curriculum was presented to the Board of Trustees for adoption in grades 3-5 beginning in the 2023-24 school year.

Prior to the Board taking a vote on whether or not to approve the adoption at the RUSD Board meeting on 3/15/23, there will be a month-long period of public review of the proposed curriculum.

If you are interested in reviewing the Amplify Science curriculum for grades 3-5 and providing feedback to the Board, there are two options both accessed by visiting the RUSD Science Adoption Website.

Option 1 - Review the student curriculum experience online. Under “Amplify” click on “Access to Online Curriculum” and follow the prompts.

Option 2 - Sign-up for an in-person review of the entire 3-5 curriculum.

Additionally, you may provide feedback on the curriculum or submit a question about the curriculum.

RUSD appreciates your continued support and active involvement in your child’s education.

Guest Teachers (Substitutes) Needed!

As all districts continue to experience substitute teacher shortages, Senate Bill (SB) 1397, temporarily waiving the Basic Skills Requirement for the Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit, becomes effective January 1, 2023.

From January 1, 2023, to July 1, 2024, the Basic Skills Requirement is waived for the issuance of the Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit. This change means that candidates who wish to obtain an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit will only need to provide official transcripts showing the conferral of a baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

If you know of any individuals who are interested in substitute teaching and have a 4-year degree but do not have a permit, please encourage them to apply to the Rocklin Unified School District EDJOIN posting (EDJOIN posting). The Human Resource Team will assist these applicants in the process of obtaining an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit.
