OAKS UPGRADE - DID YOU KNOW...
ACTIVITY FEED
OAKS 10.7 has an Activity Feed for the Course Homepage
INSTRUCTOR
Think of News as a longer, more formal post (blog post), whereas the Activity Feed is shorter, conversational post or to do (social media). The big perk of the Activity Feed is the two-way conversation component. It allows your students to comment on anything you post which begins the conversation. It's more engaging than News and less formal than the Discussion. It's a feature that many people like in applications such as Google Classroom.
Difference between News and Activity Feed
Students
Students can contribute to the conversation in a social media style way. This quick two-way conversation is something that hasn't been available in OAKS up until now. Students can also submit an assignment directly from the homepage if you want. NOTE: The Instructor must create the assignment from the Activity Feed before this will work it appears.
Uses of the Activity Feed
- Quick discussions or announcements.
- Taking the temperature of the class about a thought.
- Create an assignment.
- Creating more conversation and engagement with students.
- To dos and reminders.
