2021 Sandwich High School Seniors
End of the Year Events
Updates for SHS Seniors
As we round the turn before graduation, we have many events planned. I know some feel that this notification is coming late, but please be aware that we have had to coordinate many of these events with the health department’s input and review our facility limits.
Below I have highlighted some of the events that are planned. These festivities are organized based on current Covid restrictions.
As you read below, please note the time change for graduation on Sunday, May 23. The time set is different than in the past. If weather cooperates, graduation will be at 1:00 pm on the football field. If weather does not permit, the ceremony will be held indoors and split into two ceremonies starting at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.

Senior Walk - Monday, May 17
On Monday, May 17, seniors are invited to return to SMS, Dummer, and their elementary building one more time for Senior Walk. Seniors will be released from 7th and 8th hours and will wear their gowns for one last SHS bus ride to their old schools.
This event has become one of the favorites for students and former teachers alike. Seniors will carry signs with their names and future plans so our elementary students can see the possibilities for the future. Students who choose not to participate will attend their normal 7th and 8th hour classes. Students who did not attend a Sandwich elementary school will be randomly placed at a school.
Gowns will be dropped off and hung in the small cafe before school on May 17. Hangers should come clearly labeled with each students name.

Mandatory Graduation Practice is Friday, May 21 from 8-11 A.M.
After graduation practice on Friday, May 21, seniors will have one last day of fun outside with their classmates.
Games ranging from bags to trivia to basketball to darts will all be available for students to play and win raffle tickets. Photo booths will be waiting for seniors to take their last pictures with their friends. A taco truck and desserts will be provided at no charge. Other special surprises are in the works!
Students will choose to place their raffle tickets into various drawings for great prizes. Possible prizes include gift certificates to Raising Cane’s, Brenda’s, Bull Moose, Casey’s, Classic Cinemas, etc. Gift baskets feature Starbucks goodies, school supplies for college, camping equipment, AirPods, etc. All prizes will be drawn at 2:00 pm and then students will be released from SHS for the very last time.
Donations for the raffles are still needed. Please send an email to Mrs. Heilemeier at dheilemeier@sandwich430.org to donate. Thank you!
Graduation - Sunday, May 23
Dear 2021 Graduates and Families:
As we are nearing the end of the year, we are making decisions for senior activities, most importantly, graduation.
Our goal is to 1) have an in-person ceremony; and 2) keep our graduating class together if possible. The best way to do this is to plan an outside event with a back-up rain location and times if needed.
Our graduation will take place in the football stadium on Sunday, May 23, at 1:00 pm. Our current plan is to have all of the graduates together, on the football field, with each graduate receiving two tickets. The limitation of two guests per graduate is due to current IDPH guidelines (for outdoor events) and the size of our football stadium.
If we need to relocate due to rain, the ceremony would take place in the main gym. We will run two ceremonies with students divided in two groups based on alphabet. (This is due to IDPH guidelines for indoor events.) The split would be A-L at 1:00 pm and M-Z at 3:00 pm. The limitation of two guests per graduate is due to current IDPH guidelines (for indoor events) and the size of our gym.
In keeping with the occupancy code and Covid Protocol, each person, no matter the age, will be required to have a ticket to enter the ceremony.
