Up Your Game Camp!

Up Your Game Camp Details/Registration Information
YMLA is hosting Up Your Game Camp this summer for students who failed their reading or math STAAR test in May 2022. If your student was not successful on either the Reading or the Math STAAR test, we want him to join us to “up his game” academically. As part of House Bill 4545, students who failed one or more STAAR tests are required to receive 30 hours of accelerated instruction in the content area. If your son failed the Reading test, he needs 30 hours of reading accelerated instruction. If he failed the Math test, he needs 30 hours of accelerated instruction in math. If he failed both, he needs 60 hours of accelerated instruction (30 hours of reading and 30 hours of math). Attending the camp will allow him to receive most of the accelerated instruction minutes required as part of House Bill 4545.
The camp will meet Monday through Thursday from 8:00-12:00. Each morning, we will open the doors at 7:30 for the students to eat breakfast and remain open after camp ends until 12:30 to allow students time to eat lunch before heading home for the day. Bus transportation to and from school each day will not be provided. Students will need to walk or have a ride from a parent/guardian.
As part of Up Your Game Camp, we will be taking the students on a field trip each Thursday: Week 1 – Tour the Texas Rangers facility at Globe Life, Week 2 – Tour the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, and Week 3 – we will take the young men to play Pickleball at Chicken ‘N Pickle off 161. For each of these field trips, we will provide transportation for students.
We plan for the camp to be loaded with fun activities and lots of instruction in a small group setting. Our camp will support a limited number of young men to allow for small instructional groups, so please register your son as soon as possible to reserve his spot at camp. You can access the registration link from the link sent to your Skyward email, through the link on the YMLA S’more, or by coming to campus to complete the paperwork.
We can’t wait to help your son Up His Game!
