Bobcat PRIDE
Sunset Valley Elementary - week of February 26 - March 2
These students did a fantastic job of sharing what they learned in Writing or Math this week and why they think it is important to learn. They are certainly showing their Bobcat PRIDE by being dedicated to their learning. This principal is VERY proud!
Thank you Noah, Kaori, Jenna, Sebastian and Brooke!
If your child is interested in being in the video with me, please email me or your child's teacher. :)
What's New in the Cafeteria?
Ms. Pineda has put together several new options for your child during lunch. Students will be able to choose one food snack item unless you let us know they can have more than one. Items available for purchase are between $.75 - $1.00 each and may include :
Capri Sun, Yogurt, Baked chips, hot Cheetos, Scooby Doo gummies, Minions crackers, Rice Krispie treats and Smart Popcorn. Ice cream will be offered on Friday only.
2nd - 4th grade students also have access to self-service items like fresh fruit, salad, and vegetables. Students can use a serving spoon and add just the right amount of these items. Kinder & 1st grade will now have their options already in a small serving container that they can grab and go.
As always, there will always be a vegetarian or gluten free meal choice available.
If you would to add any limitations on your student's account, please contact Ms. Pineda by calling 817-743-8200.

Safety & Security
Following the tragic events that took place in Florida, I wanted to take a moment to make you aware of the safety measures Keller ISD takes each and every day our children are at school.
As with all school districts across the nation, Keller ISD is on high alert and in touch with law enforcement as they are making more frequent visits and increasing patrols to various campuses.
Keller ISD also follows a proactive threat assessment protocol which has been implemented District-wide and addresses threats before students act. The comprehensive threat assessment includes a review of any threat by local law enforcement, campus administration, and a counselor. Educational tools were created such as public service announcements that have been shown to students and staff reminding them to report anything they see that may be suspicious.
The District also uses a roundtable discussion approach when a student behavior concern is reported, so that an intervention plan can be developed, documented and implemented. In Keller ISD, student safety is our top priority. Please be aware that you may see additional security patrols in our area, as this is to ensure the safety and security of all students.
In the coming weeks, we will be having our regularly scheduled Lockdown drills. We are making plans to practice these drills with grade levels throughout the school day. I will add specific dates to our calendar so that we are all aware of when these are going to be held.

Attendance Data
I wanted to continue to share our percentage for attendance. We always strive to have ALL students in school each and every day. But we do understand when fever/sickness hits and we want you to help your child get well.
Did you know we now have 425 students? We welcomed 3 more students this past week!
Here are our attendance rates by six weeks so far for the 2017-18 school year:
- 1st 6 weeks - 96.8%
- 2nd 6 weeks - 96.4%
- 3rd 6 weeks - 96.6% **
- 4th 6 weeks - 94.1%
For the 5th 6 weeks, let's make our goal to be at or above 96.8% for ALL grade levels.
As of 2/22/18, our attendance rate for the 5th 6 weeks is 96%
